You wouldn't even know that Joe's podcast was number 1 tbh, it sounds like Spotify wasn't giving them their flowers both in public and private and that disturbs me. Like Poet said, Joe is the *champion* the company before Joe Rogan and so they should've endeavoured to treat him like so imo

Y'all mixing up and forgetting some facts in this. Budden clearly stated that the deal that they signed was to get stats from Spotify but they started to get shifty with that. Budden knew the value of that research. Also, the relationships that was their in the beginning those people left and the people that took over didn't value them. Lack of bonus payment for benchmarks. Plus, Spotify dropped the ball in making Budden and company the cornerstone for P.O.C. podcasts and creative. Also, Barstool has racist owners.

When talking about Diddy and royalties. Consider the fact Sting takes 100% royalties from ill be missing you. Which earns him $2000 a day. "Unfortunately for Diddy, no one from Bad Boy Records (Diddy's label) thought to secure Sting's permission to sample the 1983 pop song for the updated 1997 remix. Had Diddy asked permission first, he likely would have been required to hand over 25% of I'll Be Missing You's publishing royalties to Sting. By forgetting to ask permission before the song was released, Sting was able to demand and receive 100% of the remix's publishing royalties." You swim with sharks, you better play like a shark. 🦈

The LOX and Mase didn't fufill their contractual agreements of a multi album deal. The LOX made one album with Bad Boy and then joined the Ruff Ryders. Mase left to become a preacher and then came back to gangster rap by joining 50 Cent and G Unit. Diddy is still owed albums. I wouldn't give them back their masters either.
@stringa014 жыл бұрын
The reason they didn’t fulfill their contracts is because they were in 360 deals. Mase and jadakiss was writing for diddy but because of their deals. Diddy would still get a bigger percentage. Mase wrote the collab album for diddy after BIG died and didn’t get credited for it as an album on his contract. There’s a reason why no other artist under badboy has had success after they left.

@Ewarton Charlton you got all of this all wrong. Joe signed a 2 year deal with Spotify for a respectful amount of money for the market in podcasting in 2018 to become a Spotify exclusive. Spotify also signed Amy Schumer, celebrity comedian, as part of Spotify entering the podcasting market. Joe made the deal more for the data and to learn how a distributor like Spotify does business. Amy Schumer was suppose to be the big draw but she flopped and Joe Budden Podcast(JBP) out perform all expectations upon the launch with the first podcast even causing Spotify backend for podcasts to crash. Few months in, Spotify come to JBP with ads, It's like 150k over 8 episodes, Joe say NO because Joe getting 1.5 million for the 8 episode of his show the Pull Up and that much for his role on Love and HIpHop. So why he going to devalue himself and his brand for 18K an episode for JBP. With the success of JBP after a few months, it's basically proved Spotify business decision to enter the podcasting market. So Spotify starts buying podcasting companies. First Gimlet for 250 million and then Paracast. In June 2019, Spotify, 8 months into the original JBP contract offered another contract for more money but not just for the Joe Budden Podcast, but for JBP and every other media product Joe Budden and his team had produced and will produce in the future. Basically a 360 deal. Joe said the offer was 8 figures, which means at least $10 million and up. Joe said NO to that deal. Joe said Spotify didn't seem to like that but told Joe they will leave the deal here if he were to reconsider later. September 2019, one year into JBP deal, it's bonus time. JBP has been #1 for a year on the platform. Even after they purchase Gimlet and Paracast with thousands of podcasts added to the service. JBP has beat all expectations but some how they don't meet the numbers to get their $500K bonus. Joe ask why and they come with some bullshit about you didn't met the streaming numbers, you got this type stream but not this type stream type bullshit. Joe asked about his promo code that people use to signed up to Spotify with his code and they say they got hacked. Joe is pissed but he like I see what you niggas are about now. December 2019, Christmas, JBP chilling doing their thing and the team want some vacation time. They put in for 2 weeks off Spotify says no. JBP pre-record and take their time. The point of Joe saying this in the podcast is first Spotify couldn't afford for them to missed two podcasts at the end of the quarter cause some executives wasn't going to hit his number and secondly to show how they treat creators that are kicking ass for them. Spotify also offer to buy them watches. Joe and the team sent them a bill for like 200K for some watches and Spotify like that's too much and JBP sent back the prices for used watches, Spotify said too much. JBP sent back a price for a European location podcast special. Spotify said too much. Joe said ok less give money to the fans then Spotify said naw. Joe like I didn't ask you motherfuckers for none of this shit, you offered. Bet, I see what you niggas are about now. January 2020 - March 2020, Spotify buys The Ringer, Bill Simmons podcasting/media company, for 200 million, Joe thinks a big payday might be on the way. Covid Pandemic hits and Joe''s dad is sick and he thinks he might die. JBP stops recording but a few weeks later Spotify calls ask them when they coming back. Thus still showing they can't afford for the JBP to be off air or somebody is not going to hit their numbers. They even get Bill Simmons to call to tell JBP how they can record from home. April 2020 - Sept 2020, Joe think a big payday might be coming. Spotify basically still offering the deal from June 2019. Spotify feel JBP has peaked, Joe says we haven't peaked Spotify is 10% of the podcasting market. Spotify wants to insert ads into JBP back catalog. Joe says No. July 2020 Spotify signs Joe Rogan Podcast for 100 million+ deal. For those that don't know, Joe Rogan is the biggest podcast in the world does about 10 times what the #2 podcast in the world does in numbers. He is the top of the market. Joe Budden basically did this episode of the podcast to basically tell other POC podcasters this is how Spotify does business with somebody that brought them 100 million+ minimum in revenues. You can rock with it or not but don't say nobody told you. 100 million revenues over 2 years could mean Joe brought 500K - 600K premium subs to Spotify paying between $4.99-$9.99 who stayed for 2 years. Joe decided to launch JBP on as many platforms as his can and I'm assuming JBP will build out his own sales team when the Spotify deal is over by Sept 23, 2020. Joe Budden basically wants to control his IP and wants to participate in all revenue streams that his IP generates. He basically looking for a deal that allows him to do that regardless if they offer him a shit ton of money for that to not be the case.
