1. Eubank took this fight at 10 days notice when Collins pulled out and showed tremendous spirit. Whatever you may think of Eubank, he was a warrior in the ring and a gentleman to boot. A class act. 2. Calzaghe has absolutely no reason to go toe to toe in the final rounds, being miles ahead but he always did go for the K.O no matter what. Calzaghe went unbeaten his whole career, no draws,all wins and is truly one of the world's greatest but I still feel he doesn't get the respect he should. He ducked no one and beat em all. Go kid! 3. You look at today's so called world champs and they're all ducking one another, blaming one another. They need to take a leaf out of these guys books, who just got on with it. The only downside is I think Calzaghe didn't earn anywhere near what he should have done and his promoter should be ashamed of that.

wow even at the comparative end of his career Eubank could still pound it out,, a lesser fighter than joe and he would have won for sure

Joe should always get the credit he deserves being undefeated and i think he would outwork/ outscore Eubank in his prime but for me Eubank earned massive praise taking this fight at short notice showing true heart of a champion and clocking Joe with five seconds to go. Joe still looked quite fresh in comparison.a legend against a great champion.Eubank deserved to be liked.

Another example of you don't need to be ripped to shit to be a top class boxer....keep the body fit but supple is the way 👊👊

What an amazing fight. Calzaghe proved what an incredible fighter he is in the toughest way possible; meanwhile Eubank showed just how much heart he has. In this case, both fighters could walk away with their heads held high. Wonderful stuff.

Two of the best chins in boxing but Calzaghe was the best British boxer of all time. His hands were shot but his speed and skills were second to none.

@@johndoe-qg7jp Jones fought Calzaghe in 2008. He went on to have 18 more fights, including defeating Jeff Lacy, with his retirement 10 years later in 2018. Apparently you don't have a clue. Just making excuses for why Jones was destroyed by Calzaghe. Give me a break.

Over here Calzaghe wasn't thought of very highly until later in his career. Some were never convinced that he was a top level fighter but I was impressed with him the first time I saw him fight. When he began to fight the best in the division he handled all of them very well. In fact, some of them didn't know how to deal with him at all, Jeff Lacy a good example. Calzaghe is deceiving in that he's fairly tall and slim, and his punches don't appear to pack much power behind them. His hand speed and accuracy are what had everyone fooled. He would routinely land 3 out of 4 punches in a blur and the speed was providing the power in his punch. Getting hit several times very quickly, over and over round after round has an effect on anyone's chin. You can't counter punch him very effectively because he lands a flurry quickly and he's gone or leans back before you can return fire. He has one flaw in which he tends to hang in the pocket too long when he's dominating a guy and he gets caught sometimes in those instances. All Calzaghe ever did was beat the hell out of everyone they put in front of him. In spite of that he was steadily criticized regarding a lack of punching power. I saw him hurt many guys despite the claims that he slapped instead of punching. I'm more impressed with his 46-0 record than with Floyd's 50-0 record by far. Floyd was king of the cherry pickers and had several questionable things going on during his career. Calzaghe had no such baggage, he was clean and he beat up a lot of guys , some surprisingly easily.

Only Kessler was still in his prime, Hopkins still good but old. Lacey a hype job, good win though due to Joe's dominance. I highly doubt he would have beaten a younger RJJ and probably a younger Hopkins

An astonishingly good boxer. And an extraordinary athlete - the muscular endurance in particular to sustain those repeated combos with next to no rest in-between is almost not human!
@meandmynine_tm9684Ай бұрын
King of cherry pickers? Lmao. Calzaghe hid Inna division so dead him and svenne ottke could make 21 title defences each at the same time. A bit of a joke really. Joe hid in that division all his career whilst Floyd became a real multi division champion beating 8 hall of famers and gaining 15 world titles. That was very funny bruh

The only other era of middleweight boxing I remember so much talent was the Hearns, Hagler Duran and Leonard. As opposed to Eubanks, Benn, Calzaghe, Collins and Watson.
Two great champs and this was the handing over of the torch

After the Michael Watson fight Chris Eubank wasn’t the sam boxer. This often happens after a box has killed or permanently damaged another boxer in the ring. Chris was one of my favourite boxers he is legendary and deserves more respect.
