It’s from the movie ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’ with Debra Winger and Richard Gere. It’s patriotic as he plays an officer in training in the Naval academy. Love this song!

In the movie 🎥 An Officer and a Gentleman. Written by Buffy Sainte Marie, the late Jack Nitzche and the late Will Jennings. 40 years ago 🎂. Joe Cocker sang a song written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. The song appeared in the movie 🎥 Teachers starring Ralph Macchio. Same year when he starred in The Karate 🥋 Kid. BSM had the voice to sing the female parts. But, she chose not to sing it! 🙄 She and Nitzshe were busy raising their son. Jennings was in the middle of writing songs with Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. Jennings and Winwood started writing together in 1980 and continued through 1987. They wrote Valerie, Higher Love and other hit songs. Jennings and Clapton wrote Tears in Heaven in 1990, released in 1991. RIP Will Jennings, 6 September 2024. Joe Cocker on Christmas 🎄 Day, 2014. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Steve Winwood sings Valerie. 2 Steve Winwood and Chaka Khan sing Higher Love 3 Eric Clapton sings Tears in Heaven. 4 Joe Cocker sings Edge of a Dream at Solid Gold.

Great performance but strangely no interaction whatsoever between the two singers (as if they dont get on very well with each other) and they are just singing what they have to do.
