George gave Joe "Something" to record (he considered giving it to Jackie Lomax), so Joe actually recorded HIS version first, but released it second after The Beatles. The Beatles version came out on Sept. 26, 1969 in the U.K. and Oct. 1, 1969 in the U.S. Joe's version came out in November.

At his peak? This was his beginning. He went so much further, and this helped propel him. I followed Joe from the beginning to the end and saw him many times over the years and was deeply saddened when he passed . There will never be another like him. RIP Joe.

@@chillertheater pretty sure he did, and after that Leon put together the Mad Dogs band where Chris Stainton was the only holdover from the Grease Band. Carl Radle played bass on that tour. the Grease band had a solid debut album.
