I was in the choir and sang on the record. The song went to number one in the Irish Singles Charts May 1974 taking over from ABBA Waterloo. Our Choirmaster Mr. Kevin Scully sadly passed away earlier this year. A really great guy. May he Rest In Peace.

@@lizdoyle7158 Yes, It was a great experience being in the recording studio. The choir was the Greenfield Park Boys Singers from Santry, Dublin 9. Other highlights of my time in the choir included a three-week trip to Austria where we performed several recitals and a visit to Aras an Uachtarain where we sang for President Childers.

My sister was born on our landing - Mum was in labour for approximately 30 seconds. Dad (RIP) phoned a friend to go and get the doctor while he stayed with Mum and 16-month-old me. Mum went INTO hospital with my newborn sister. As she was being brought through the hospital, this song was playing on the hospital radio - it went to Number 1 here a week later. To this day, this song reminds Mum of Mary's birth.

Superb song by the great Joe Cuddy. I went on a date with his lovely daughter, Suzanne, when I was 16. I remember being so nervous calling at the Cuddy house in Raheny and being met by Mrs Cuddy, a lovely lady. Without doubt the best version of this song, I remember Joe singing it at the Royal Hotel in Howth, he was the owner of the hotel at the time. Sunday’s nights were fun at the cabaret. Great memories.
