I watched this for the first time almost three years ago because, being a fan of horror, I had never seen a Hammer film, so where else to start but the most well known piece? But the moment Cushing came on screen I was in love. I immediately went and found Curse of Frankenstein, and the second, and third, and so forth, watched 'em all. I go through a filmography at a time, so I watched all of Cushing's films I could find, and I gotta say the one that surprised me the most was the live broadcast play of 1984 he did in... 1940 some. It's on KZbin somewhere. But it also made me fall in love with Hammer films, and I went through quite a number of those, too. Have you seen Mark Gatiss' tribute to Hammer Horror? It's what got me to watch them in the first place. I'd seriously suggest checking it out.

When you discover how cheaply these pictures were made and how wonderful they are you gain a tremendous amount of respect for cast and crew.

This is a very effective horror film. It is a thriller and is far more effective than modern horror films with in your face violence and bloodletting and is highly entertaining.

Where did you get find this trailer in such high quality? I have been searching for the "Horror of Dracula" trailer with the Universal-International name rather than the Warner Bros. one and if possible, I'd like to see this without the TFH watermark :)

All of the Hammer Dracula films are worth watching for the fantastic performances of Christopher Lee, but this is the iconic film where everything works together and the entire film is worth seeing.

It's a very short movie, roughly 81 minutes. But i think Lee was in it more than 8 minutes. I'd say 15 to 20 minutes. It's still one of my favs from that era.

It's funny but Universal Imposed all Sorts of Rules on Hammer Films before allowing this Remake of Dracula,(No Man-To-Bat Transformations, That was Theirs. Dracula wasn't allowed to Turn into a Mist or a Wolf, That was also Theirs. Dracula couldn't Team Up with Other Monsters, Such as Frankenstein and the Wolfman, Because that was also Their Thing), Otherwise they would have taken Legal Action.

Terence Fisher should have preceded Coppola in doing a film focusing on Dracula's past. I'm sure it would have been a project Lee would have agreed to.

It was because the original 1930s version of "Dracula" was still being shown at that time (I forgot if it was in re-released in theaters or aired on TV), and Universal(-International) added in "Horror of" to distinguish this film from the original.
