Joe can say whatever he wants and get my respect. He took so much crap from Ali and was overlooked by almost everyone. He deserves my respect and admiration. A true warrior. Thank you Mr. Frazier for making my first few years on this planet so exciting.. I would be grateful to be counted as one of your Southern White Brothers. God bless ya CHAMP!!!!

Great video! Am glad that Ali & Frazier were able to reconcile before Frazier's death. I like both of them. However, I do favor Joe's humility. GOD bless them both, and may Brother Joe Frazier RIP..

@inktankproductions - Ali was my favorite champ since my earliest days, but sadly I can see why Joe felt so low of Ali. Ali said things that were detestable and indicative of his own self hatred. Some things you just don't say and Ali crossed the line too many times. Anything Smokin Joe ever said towards Ali in meanness was earned. A person's continuous degrading comments can cause someone to have permanent contempt. Without Joe, Ali would not have been the legend he is and vice versa.

Ali would still be a legend without Joe. Ali did the same thing to all his opponents to promote the fight, he’s said it multiple times. He was a promoter as well as a boxer. Frazier wouldn’t have made nearly as much money if Ali didn’t promote the fight like that. And Ali never said one bad word about him after they fought, because he genuinely had no ill will towards him. People forget he called Joe the greatest fighter of all time next to him. That’s the highest praise Joe could get, yet Joe stayed resentful. It’s good that they made up shortly before Fraizers death. RIP to both champs

@MrPerryrice - it's common knowledge that Ali made fun of Joes African features. And Ali berated other black fighters calling them apes etc, but he was vicious and excessive towards Frazier who was more sensitive. Ali's sad behavior caused Frazier to detest him for the rest of his life. Today in hindsight, many in boxing media (and champion fighters) view Ali's words against Joe with great regret because he broke Joe down but never came back and lifted him up. He deserved an open apology.

@MrPerryrice Look, ya little boy, Ali never called Joe the Champ, when Joe had beaten all comers in title elimination. Ali always said in interviews that Joe couldn't talk like him, that's when Ali would push his nose in and mumble incoherant babble, imitating Joe. This was when Ali wasn't fighting, during his suspension. Joe went out of his way to help Ali out when Ali was broke, lobbied for Ali to get his fighting license back, lobbied for the Gov to let Ali fight. Ali turned on him, u = sick.

A person of God is not arrogant, does not call himself God, does not degrade others. Ali did all of this and the world thinks he was so wonderful. Just shows how wrong most humans are. Ali showed how we should not be and his condition today is payback for all those misdeads he did to others. Joe had more class in one finger than Ali had in his whole body.Joe still harbors bad feelings for Ali because he knows Ali really wanted to hurt Joe inside.That never leaves a MAN but Joe see's the justice.

Class guy and a great champion. In his prime, especially the first Ali fight, he was absolute lightning. I think he may have won the 2nd Ali fight, but he really was finished in after the 14th in the Thrilla in Manila, and Foreman demolished him twice.

If you are fortunate to live long enough you realize what you thought would always be is no more. Joe was and always will be remembered for his time in the ring and the fights he had with some of the biggest names in boxing. Many a boxer fight wi5h hate . Joe fought because he loved boxing. R.I.P. Joe. Most of us love boxing from the stands but would never consider going in the ring.
@blite13
@blite13 15 жыл бұрын
Joe makes fun of Ali now because it's called payback for all the hurt Ali brought to him. Joe hugs Ali and calls him a man of God, his idea of Ali's condition today is brought on by the punishment he gave Ali. No one ever punished Ali the way Joe did and he takes pride in that. Just like Ali took pride in degrading and messing with the manhood of another man. Ali was heard many times in the ring saying" don't you know who I am", ' you are fighting God tonight". Ali wasn't just playing around.

Actually Ali will always be my favorite boxer and sports figure because he overcame such odds in the ring and had heart if anyone ever did. And he showed supreme ring savvy against the best of the very best. But just because he was a great champion does not excuse him from judgment just like you and I would be judged. Truth is truth. He and Joe Frazier were not at peace mutually. Joe went to his grave not liking Ali. Ali being the more dominant figure should have shown more gratitude.

@ssaltspring I know you wrote that 2 years ago, but id like to point out a fact that you may not know. The rocky movie was technically about joe's life but he didnt get credit for it. Joe ran up those sets of stairs of Philadelphia. That was his training regime. Althought the film wasn't about him. You get the idea.

No mate your not very well educated in boxing history, ali beat an over the hill, sonny liston, a very weak flloyd patterson. Ali's greatest fights and what really cemented him as a legend were his fights with frazier. Foreman was a great victory and the icing on the cake because of the odds, but a shitty fight, the thriller in manilla was an amazing fight not many boxers could withstand that kind of pressure. Thats what made Ali a legend !

Smokin joe is a legend, because he fought legends, and beat legends. Ali would not have been the legend he is,had it not have been for his amazing fights against frazier. Your only as good as your competition, and all i can say is ali vs frazier trilogy is amazing piece of boxing history, and no matter which side your on, you must give respect to both, or you have no respect for boxing, history or the human spirit.

I think Frazier took some things Ali said personal because he helped Ali with money while he was stripped of his boxing license and he was an advocate for them to give him his license back. I'm not giving Ali an excuse, but that first fight earned them both a fat check. Ali's promoting the fight had a lot to do with it. I hate that it got personal.

Ali would NEVER call himself God. That's another one of Joe's lies. No one heard that comment apart from Joe. Isn't that strange? Ali was clowning around. He didn't seriously believe any of the stuff he said. I know he comes across as arrogant, but if you listen to him in interviews, you realize that he is highly respectful of other boxers including Joe. Joe really needs to grow up.

Ali was heard many times in the ring saying he was God?!! By who apart from Joe? Where's your proof? And Joe did give Ali a good beating (which is the reason we are talking about him to this day) but that gives him no right to make fun of his condition. That's just low Joe.

i don't think you are very well educated pal.liston over the hill at 32 fought 16 times after losing to ali. (till his death. he was due to fight george chuvalo, did not retire) a weak paterson at 30 fought another 16 fights after losing to ali, ali retired him 7 years later.and you say the foreman fight was shitty. it was a great fight. a lesson for foreman. frazier did not fair as well did he. styles my friend from another of your comments.

@MrPerryrice - you respond by saying that Smokin Joe sounds like a "uncivilized inhuman, hateful malicious ogre". How civilized is your language? Ali spoke visciously and degradingly against Joe many many times without apology but you have no blame for Ali. Do you realize how ridiculous you sound. Ali was my fav champ but he drew the response from Joe on himself. I bet Ali would admit this now that he is wiser and much more mature. He has no hard feelings about Joe, and neither should you.

@inktankproductions Frazier wasn't threatened BY Ali. He was threatened by the influence Ali had over mainstream society and especially the black community. He called Frazier things like an Uncle Tom, the other kind of negro, etc. and so a lot of the black community erroneously either misinterpreted those things as true or inferred that because the agreed with Ali's political views that they had to be against the more apolitical Frazier. Frazier and his family recieved death threats for that.

you do know that all those things that Ali said was to sell fights, he had a very good relationship with Joe but at that time with the depression and the state of the economy and the racial struggle, the camps both knew why Ali was doing,now don't get me wrong, Ali did go overboard with his comments and he has since apologized to Joe and his family, but that was part of showbiz at that time....

if it were not for ali, frazier would hardly have been known. he only defended the title 4 times 1st against bob foster (light heavy) 2nd against ali who'd just had a 3 year lay off and god knows how he won that having spent a month in hospital after the fight. 3rd terry daniels who'd lost 30 fights from 66 and ron standar who'd lost 21 fights from 6. hardly a good record. he is only remembered for his fights with ali. ali defended the title 19 times

Frazier is a legend so a Ali they needed each other buff said I would be interested in Ali if it wasn't for Frazier and vice versa. First fight Ali had warm matches and perform well he did lose leg speed however still had sharp arms Frazier dodge those fast puches and took Ali hardest punches on the other hand Frazier hardest punch sent Ali to the floor I applaud Ali for getting up but Frazier was the tougher and stronger of the two that night he took Ali hard hits kepting pouring forward. Frazier was only in hospital due high blood pressure unrelated to the fight confirm by doctor

@cambay411 Young fighters have a tendency to "make excuses" or claim they won when they lost. It's hard for them to accept a defeat when they put so much into training and preparing for a fight, then fight as hard as those guys did. However, in older age Ali freely admits he lost the first fight with Frazier. Frazier however, as bitter as he is, still claims he won all three fights because of the shape Ali is in now. Very bitter man. Time to get over it Frazier.

When I say that Joe has no class, I mean that it's unacceptable to make fun of someone because they have a disease such as parkinson's syndrome. Ali made fun of Joe but you can tell he wasn't serious. Joe making fun of Ali's condition is not clowning around. Would you make fun of someone who has cancer for example? That's what I mean by NO CLASS WHATSOEVER

It's ridiculous when smoking Joe Frazier pretends he doesn't know how many times big George Foreman floored him, in this clip he said eleven times, in champions forever he said nine times, in a show where he Ali and George Foreman appeared as star guests he said seven times, i believe he says that to avoid any more questions being a very proud man obviously he despised putting him on the spot with questions like that.
