This episode truly was the most terrifying because you get to see how joe is actually insane from Marriane perspective I have to agree with you guys the second half of this season is some of the best YOU I feel in a while can’t wait for reaction to the next episode and finale

The thing is, there never was a ‘good’ Joe. He only comes across as more sane than he truly is because he keeps finding excuses for his actions and refuses to face who he truly is: a deranged and violent individual who doesn’t know the first thing about love despite telling himself that all he does is in the name of love.
@kokobop8138 Жыл бұрын
i love how they did this from Marianne’s pov bc we haven’t seen it from other peoples pov’s except joes. And when you think about it he doesn’t seem scary to you when he does his internal monologues or like when we see everything from his pov. And that’s literally the whole point. We don’t get to really understand how sick and evil he is. This was perfect, best episode really.

It was brilliant to have her narration instead of his. The brief pauses he does before he says something to her suggests that he’s having an inner dialogue, except this time, we don’t hear it. We’re getting to see Joe the way his victims do. Incredible episode!

I think the inspiration for this episode come from a short story by Joyce Carol Oates called “Where are you going, Where have you been?” and the protagonist is a teenage girl that’s home alone when she hears a knock at the door and there’s a strange man that’s trying to talk her into coming outside and getting into his car. At first the man looks like an average man but the longer she talks to him she describes him to look something like a devil in a human disguise. I think that applies to Marrienne and Joe when she realizes that she isn’t talking to Joe anymore and he’s having a psychotic break.

Writing of this show is actually insane as anybody realize that the scenes with Marienne telling story to her daughter in paris that they showed in this episode actually happen after Marienne was saved by Nadia from the glass cage in the season finale but we won't notice until finale as we don't yet know at this point that Marienne gonna be saved or not from joe's cage we just think this scenes are her imagination while being trapped in glass cage🙌

This episode was one of the best for me. I always thought I was good at remembering Joe was a killer and that I didn't empathise with him too much. But this episode was the first one that made me see him as an absolute monster and WANT him to get caught and locked away. I realised that I'd never felt so strongly that way before and that Joe had still managed to be endearing up until now.

Dissociative Identity Disorder is a trauma response, so you have to feel conflicted about how he became the way he is. Seeing visual hallucinations is not typical, and his obsessive delusions prove there's a lot more going on there. Joe is horrible, but a truly interesting character.

Not everything in the domain of hallucination is linked to one specific mental disorder. Don’t throw away labels like that if you’re not knowledgeable in it or have it yourself.
@justaboringgirl7724 Жыл бұрын
@@ela7354 true, but it's also not good to label Joe with things not explicitly stated in the show, it can be harmful to people with those actual disorders especially since it's unfortunately common to see DID depicted negatively like this. Dissociation can come from many different illnesses but in the show it's said to come from erotomania, so that's what I'm going to take it as.

This comment section is crazy... Penn Badgley said many times that Joe is a terrible person and it's beyond him why anyone would root for him. He's an interesting character but he was always a monster and the most unreliable narrator. And now people are saying they feel betrayed lmaoo maybe you people should think what it says about you that you loved this guy 💀😬

100% After what he did to Beck I never liked him and hated him. So I actually really loved the direction they went because at first I thought it was completely out of character that he wanted to save people by killing Rhys lol...also I already said this a few times in this chat but too bad Dexter Morgan and Joe didn't share the same universe. Dexter would have made him disappear lolol...Regardless such an excellent show though!

Well it was betrayed that he was innocent the first half of the show and obviously from our perspective it did look like he was actually making a good change and saving instead of killing.
@luvvvv124 Жыл бұрын
Okay but it also is a show… that is in the pov of a killer. Just like the joker and other movies and shows like this that usually does make the main character “likeable” to some degree or “relatable😅” in some kinda way bc who wants to watch a total monster on screen for 4 seasons lol. We root for joe because we see it through his pov.

After what he did to Beck I almost didn't want to watch the 2nd season because I was disgusted and hated him. Also after that I never really rooted for him just wanted to see what he would do next. I liked how he did protect kids though. I'm glad I continued great writing and he had some redeeming qualities kind of lol Definitely liked the path they went this season so good & showed us he truly is a psychopath that was humanized by the writers. Just finished this season yesterday...Great show!.....also Dexter Morgan would of made easy work with putting Joe on his table. Lol

I loved this episode! Joe has always been a crazy son of a bitch but now he’s got two different personalities. He’s always surprised that side of him and it’s almost like he’s suppressed it so much that it literally developed into its own personality. Loved this version of joe! Way more terrifying.

We get gaslit by Joe every season. When he’s the narrator we see him in a less harsh light then when his victims narrate towards the end of the season and we see his truly cynical nature. They reveal the real Joe

I think he might honestly get away with everything . That’s what he wanted the show to be about . How do you guys feel !?

Hot take 🔥: Joe is the protagonist of the show and I've been rooting for him the whole time, lol. Joe has never had D.I.D. and always finds a "justified" way to kill ppl with his own sick logic. His inner monologue is a hallmark of the show. Making him an unreliable narrator from the viewer's POV just undercuts everything we've ever known about him or the show. I for one was not happy with this twist at all.
