Had the pleasure of seeing this concert in NYC at the Roundabout theatre with Bob and Rick. At the door each attendee was given a post card signed by Joe Jackon explaing that they are cutting an album that night and to only clap at the very end, last not of a song. The entire album was sung that night and it was amazing to watch. He did a re-take on this song I believe, wasn't happy with the first go. This album is still one of my favorites from him and this band. His next album Blaze of Glory was also just as good. These two albums, Big World and Blaze of Glory most fans may not know. Check them out!

What was the point of doing a live album when you can't tell the band is performing in front of live audience? Why not just perform to an empty auditorium?

Indeed. I was at one of the recorded shows in Glen Mills, PA. Joe asked the audience to be absolutely quiet for the recording. (Almost everyone complied) One guy yelled out "Nice haircut" Joe replied "Wot, do ya think aye should look like you then?" :) The sound was impeccable. I have never heard a better live mix than at Joe's gigs in Philly ever. Flawless performance and sound. I've been listening to Body and Soul again for the last 3 weeks everyday. Sounds amazing.

Kevin, Thanks for sharing that. I'd heard about this but never from anyone who attended. I made it to one of the rehearsal shows for this in a smallish club in the west 20s - he called it the workout tour. Hey I have a FB group for joe fans: facebook.com/groups/joejackson/

Gary Gelb The "Workout" Tour must have been a common theme for Joe. It was also the name of his tour in early 1991 prior to going into the studio for Laughter and Lust. I saw him in March, 1991 at the Powers Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
