This song has such a nice groove. It’s light, pulsing with rhythmic energy, and makes you want to tap your feet a little. It’s also very sophisticated in instrumental presentation: full and layered! Great voice.

I’ve always loved this song. Such bright, rich, beautiful chords. It is technically a glockenspiel, not a xylophone that you’re hearing-xylophones have wooden keys whereas these are made of metal-but colloquially most people don’t care about the distinction.

It's amazing to see the evolution of his career and style. From punk leaning to contemporary rock, to smooth adult contemporary. Listen to "I'm the Man" and "Somebody's Baby" to what your listening to now! Big difference!

Joe Jackson is a very interesting and versatile songwriter. Check out 'Be My Number Two', 'Happy Ending', 'Real Men', 'You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)'. He also plays on Suzanne Vega's song 'Left Of Center'.

I was in high school when this song came out. It conjured up images of New York City in my mind. I bought the 45 single of "Is She Really Going Out With Him" years earlier. That song sounded quite different from the other songs on the radio back then. Years later I bought a copy of "Look Sharp," the album featuring that song. Check out the title cut from that album along with "Got the Time."

I like the sound of glockenspiel, too! Very underrated in rock music. Listen to Buddy Holly's "Everyday", Rush's "Closer to the Heart" even on the backend of "Free Bird". Most people don't hear it in the background.
