Joe is pure class: his music treads an appealing line between skilled musicianship and rockn'roll attitude.

Joe Jackson is without a doubt one of the all-time greatest talents in popular music. He’s made challenging music for decades now and that’s one reason he’s one of the rare artists who’s only gotten better over time. “Sunday Papers” is definitely a great track. And he’s written countless numbers of great songs.

Sunday Papers I think, might be my favourite Joe Jackson song - although to be honest most of them are brilliant! - I’ve been a fan since Big World in ‘86, and have been lucky to see him play live. Pop music of this quality and musicianship just doesn’t exist now........

Joe Jackson's debut album is a fucking classic. He was young, hungry, ready to make his impression upon the world and he sure did so in so many ways just on that one album. He certainly grew as a musician since then but his debut is still my favorite. This was young, hungry, sarcastic, biting, sharp, caustic, witty Joe.

@chrisorsten5 жыл бұрын
Must haves.... After 89.... Laughter and Lust Rain Volume 4 (reunion of the original lineup) Fast Forward Fool. Summer In the City - Live In New York Edit - in the 90s and early 2000s, he got really classical and new age-ish and just gave a big middle finger to pop music (those albums are Night Music, Heaven and Hell, Night and Day 2, Symphony #1). That period is a real love it or hate it kinda thing. I find they have their charms, but not "Essential Joe" stuff. Lastly "The Duke", his tribute album to Duke Ellington, is pretty spotty- though it has the late Sharon Jones just singing the hell out of "I Ain't Got Nothin' But The Blues". And has him and Iggy Pop duetting on "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing", which sounds cooler than it really is lol.
