Just looked up his bio - he was raised by a single mum and probably wasn't the most confident kid. Yet he had an excellent NBA career, ending up becoming a 7-time all-star, helped made Atlanta Hawks good again since the Nique era and was the no.1 star of the team. Made millions of dollars, stayed out of all trouble by being down-to-earth, quiet and humble, never had trouble with anyone and avoided media circuses. Wasn't the most gifted player but worked hard and find a niche in his game. Not a loud talking alpha male type leader like Paul Pierce said but definitely a role model as someone who worked hard and made smart decisions and defied all odds to succeed in life.

He was one of my favourite players growing up. He wasn't quick or as athletically gifted as most stars yet he used the craftiness on the court to the fullest potential. Also he was one of the cluthest players during the time, the first ever jersey that I bought was his Brooklyn Nets uniform. So depressing to see that this era is ending...

Honestly he was always on a good team that wasn't good enough to be title contenders beside last years rockets.

Joe Johnson was a great NBA player. As a die hard fan of the Atlanta Hawks, Joe Johnson brought excitement to the city. Being a top scorer in the league during his time in Atlanta. 7x time all star and 20,000 points is remarkable. One of my favorite players of all time. Joe Johnson was my idol growing up. Hall of fame hands down! One thing about Joe he never complain or flopped, he just let his game speak for him just like Kawhi Leonard! That’s something to respect!

Joe Johnson and Boring game in the same sentence? Come now, he had not a boring, but a very entertaining and epic offensive game to him! Doing him dirty like that! Hot damn haha. He's one of the first NBA players that I came to really enjoy watching, and bringing onto teams in the first NBA 2K games I had (late fan here of anything NBA, circa 2010). His offensive prowess and clutch was nearly unprecedented honestly, and is sorely underappreciated to this day sadly. Am I from PHX or ATL? Nope, the westside of the RipCity area. Him, Paul Pierce, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudamire, and Dwight Howard were all my first players I grew to be a fan of. DeMar DeRozan and CBooze were the next I became a fan of.

I gotta say though, that 04-05 season is insane. I mean 17 points a game isn't insane but the efficiency at which he was able to do it at was. He played and started 82 games shooting at 48 percent from 3. That is insane even by today's standards. Granted he's shooting as much as a brook lopez would right now from three but it is still impressive.

Him being quiet was his humbleness. The league (including the NFL) has too many prissy “I like attention” players instead of just playing basketball. Joe was a legit All Star 💫 who walked with class.

I disagree , because In BKN he was the best player and also that 2013 and 2014 playoff run, he was ballin and their 1st option 7x allstar , two different team, 1st ballot hall of famer

Joe Johnson was a hell of a shooter and on top of that I just watched a video about James harden and how bad he is in the playoffs where Joe Johnson was the opposite Plus those Atlanta Hawks teams in the playoffs were dangerous and you had to fight to win

Andy just shitting on Joe, he deserves more respect, Joe was a fucking baller. He’s the same player as Kwahi Leonard, & Tim Duncan. Quiet but can get the job done. He would’ve match perfect for The Spurs.

All I have to say is another Joe. Joe Dumars, NBA Final MVP. Just an amazing Ex. One of the best pure shooting forms. RESPECT that man and give him his own video or two like championships he won! Thank you Andy Hoops all his supporters. Wish all the best. Oh and Luka should be an #allstar. He is more than legit.

Joe Johnson’s one of those players who doesn’t get enough credit because of his quiet personality, just like Michael Conley, he had plenty of talent and good stats but sadly he’ll always be overlooked.
