Cruel? I don’t get it. He grew up on the Isle of Man, which is so beautiful and crime-free his mother never had to worry if her little boy was safe. He did local theater, playing the title role in “Oliver.” Then he auditioned for Heartstopper and his career is going like a skyrocket. He’s amazing and the luckiest guy on the planet, but with the kind of luck that talent creates for itself. If you mean homophobic online trolls, I think he can handle those without trouble.

@@gumbopie Yes, I'm talking about the online trolls, the homophobic ones, the ones harassing him for his looks for more than 3 years. It has been cruel, vile and nasty including threats of violence, r*pe, stalking, I could go on forever. It made me sick seeing this, especially when Joe was still 17 when cast as Charlie. Due to his body dysmorphia, we know it has affected him, too. It doesn't take away his luck or his talent, but it does taint his experience.
