They used to make book on how long I could keep drinking and still stay alive. I now have 29 years of sobriety. Was it worth it.....GOD YES! Can you believe she asked Joe "Was it worth it"

yeah, very dumb, naive question and reaction - she needs a little more life experience before she's ready to interview people...

Haha, I actually loved that question. Quitting drinking is a hard thing to do, I think she wanted Joe to provide some affirmation to those people out there struggling that it is indeed worth it. The way she asked it was a little bit off, but I found it funny and quirky.

What an excellent guy, and very inspiring. I quit the booze myself. I find it funny when the interviewer asked him after he had explained why he quit whether it was worth it or not. It seems to be ingrained in us that alcohol is a substance that offers so many positive benefits. Without a flinch, the immediate thought process is that there is an negative opportunity cost as a result of quitting, which is absurd when you consider that only about 35% of the entire world consume alcohol. If this is the American mentality, I cannot imagine how much worse it is over here in the UK. Drinking culture over here is mental, and I do not use that word lightly. In London, for example, the weekend starts on a Thursday. All you have to do is wander around the streets a bit to see the pubs and bars filling to the brim, with people spilling out on to the streets. The drinking will not stop until Monday, and some begin their weekends on Wednesdays.

I believe that he is not on steroids. Before when I look at his physique and before photo, I was sure he is on the juice. But I didnt know that he quit drinking. That was an incredible thing for him to do, and it was extremely hard. People who quit drinking are most aware of how addiction can destroy people. He knows that deeply, and he is extremely not likely to let himself go down that road again.

Drinking is officially getting in my way, sooo hard to stop because I'm very socially awkward in every way n have been that way all my life(I'm 35 now) alcohol made social situations mildly possible, but with that comes the depression n HORRIBLE anxiety I assumed the booze got rid of

Well not true, you can essentially stop whenever you feel satisfied with your weight. Your muscles won't dissapear, you'll hold on to your weight after you quit. It just accelerates the muscle building process. Not saying this guy is taking, I don't believe either, but many actors take it one or two times to get to their goal fast then quit using it.

+dailymanny I lived in Palm Springs where TONS of guys are on steroids and you don't have to be Arnold size to be on roids, especially if you're a smaller person and no one saw what you looked like before you started roids. Not saying this guy is on them, but it's a Hollywood thing so who knows.

BS, my personal trainer is on roids and my BF is a personal trainer. I have always been a skinny kid growing up. I made my mind up to get healthier. And skinny kids will ALWAYS be lean and cut. They can never look like the HULK or Arnold without the use of steroids. His interview is so telling. He never looks at the interviewer in the eyes.
