@@billy8197 no doubt, Morton was a stud in Houston and Tampa. I think when you get to an organization run by someone you know cares less about winning your "give a sh!t light" goes out. I know they're supposed to be professionals and win anywhere but the pirates owner even in their years where they were winning never made a real effort of trying to win. They traded for a couple of past their prime players in Byrd and morneau back in 2015 when they could have really bought in and got a substantial return.

The entire defense is everything. Its like when an nfl team wins the Super bowl. All the credit goes to the QB but really its was a team effort that got the job done.

It helps keep the pitch count low and minimize the need for the hero defensive plays. That's not to say that the rest of the defense isn't important, but the relationship between the catcher and pitcher is one of the most important things about the game.
