I had the profound pleasure of meeting Mr. Pass after a show in NYC many years ago. Just as much as his music affected me, his humbleness, graciousness and kindness has stayed in my memory for 30+ years. I'll never forget it ... Thanks, Joe!

I got to jam with Joe once and at one point he said "I got it"....which I understood to mean...for me to lay out...he then went on to play something very similar to this tune. In retrospect, I was wise to lay out...the man was a monster player....thanks for posting this video...gives me good memories of this gentle man. RC

"You will have to look close but Joe either drops his pick or has to go into his pocket to retrieve one. " He's playing fingerstyle until 1:55, then grabs his pick. Joe always does this while keeping the song going with his left hand. Check some other videos.

You will have to look close but Joe either drops his pick or has to go into his pocket to retrieve one. In any case he never skips a beat and if you werent looking close you would never know. I watched him play at least 3 times with my Dad at Blues Alley in Georgetown. I can say without reservation he is the Apex Jazz Guitarist of all time. I never speak in absolutes but this is the exception. RIP-Joe

@markofromfreiburg sure is! its a 8 bar blues with some extra stuff... and anyways it doesnt matter if it is or it is not cuz he called it blues in G. its just the name. O.o it could be his version of atumn leaves... if he wants to call it blues in G he is allright. so just let pass call it whatever pass wants to call it. hes a master anyways so dont mind the song names lol.

I doubt kids who think rock musicians know how to play guitar will be watching this video. Though I do agree.

It's all about phrases not scales...

Not that I dislike his finger style.

Just try to quantify his talent in words. Can't be done.

Now, students. What about those boring intermediate exercises? Hmm? All those scales and arpeggios? Dreary? Well, just give a listen to a guy whose dad made him practice 5 hours a day.
@Guitar1hero2313 жыл бұрын
as a guy who listened to nothing but blues and old rock, and who now listens to nothing but jazz and classical.....they really dont. to me, and this is just my opinion, the pentatonic scale over the basic 1 4 5 progression is in no way exciting or musiclally satisfying....at all. its sooooooo boring
@helldemon61813 жыл бұрын
sigh... its only boring if you cant use your guitar... but i'm not gonna argue with someone named guitarhero xD
@IberianInteractive14 жыл бұрын
