A jazzy guitarist is someone with a blues, funk, pop guitar background who does a jazzy approach every now and then. Joe Pass (re)defined Jazzguitar forever and is therefore one of the godfathers of jazz guitar. The Great(est) Jazz Guitarist will do :-)

Joe Pass' playing always feels inviting to me. I immediately want to bring my guitar ... just to find out .. his chords are generous with my eyes my ears my soul . and tight-lipped snippy under my touch. Well, one gets used to that 😏 Thankyou.

Also Red Mitchell seems to be way more economical and prudent in his playing than NHOP.

I understand your preference in style but your criticism is misplaced. Syndrome indeed. Joe didn't seem to have a problem. Regardless, just wished we had more to share.

I hear you. Joe Pass can play very tastefully as this record shows. But some of his stuff is so busy I find myself wondering what’s the point.
@JohnDimmick
@JohnDimmick Жыл бұрын
@@ledaswan5990 stay with it Leda, you’ll get it someday like me and thousands of others. Parallel sevenths, dissonance in supporting chord structure , 5/4 and other timing signatures spontaneously injected to spice up the composer’s sometimes mundane phrasing. Keep listening for the unexpected. Enjoy it for you are getting a visit into the musician’s mind, observing his or her passion is musical voyeurism ..

Sounds like he's bending one string up to "almost" the same note on another, we just didn't hear the bend first.

I don't know if there's a term for it, but what he's doing is he plays the same note on two different strings. He's alternating between the same note on the B and E strings. He's bending on the B string, also.
