"Chivalry IS dead! And women killed it." ~ Dave Chappelle

Chivalry is a deal. A gender deal. Women don't compete directly for power, with men. In exchange, men protect women. However: When women compete for power with men, that ends that deal. Women now, often out rank men. The idea that men should be chivalrous to those that out rank them, is laughable. The nobility of chivalry is it was the strong protecting the weak. Women want to be strong, high ranking, while enjoying protection. Absurd.

Chivalry was given back when a guy could expect loyalty, faithfulness, honesty, purity or reasonably close to it. That's all long gone now, in the majority of cases, and so rightfully chivalry is mostly gone too.

Loyalty is disgusting to me. I much prefer people have integrity to their own values than loyalty to a person or organization. To me, loyalty means supporting people even when they are wrong, whereas integrity to me means supporting what you believe in. In my friend commits a crime that I think is wrong, why should I be loyal to them?

As Joe has said before himself, women can say horrific and evil things to men, but they have no recourse. As a large opponent shouldn't physically mistreat a smaller person, that smaller person should not provoke the larger one. You need both sides.

The first time I picked up my girlfriend for a date, I held the door open for her. When I got into the car, she said "I can open my own door." So I told her that that is not what it is about. "I can also make my own sandwich". She tried to take offense, but I interrupted her and started a long explanation about my favourite sandwiches. Now she never complains about chivalrous things I do. And I show her love and affection whenever I get a sandwich.

Let's not forget that 50% of the time domestic violence is bidirectional, and of the remaining 50% it is instigated by the female slightly more often than not. Those are unpopular facts, but to deny them is to assume that women are completely pure of heart and incapable of violence. Anyone who has lived on the wrong side of the tracks knows that women have a similar propensity for violence as men. Sure, on average men are more capable of inflicting damage, but I do not subscribe to the belief that men should take it from women and not return fire.

It was a slow death and it started a century ago "Modesty, reticence, and chivalry were going out of style; women no longer wanted to be "ladylike" or could appeal to their daughters to be "wholesome"; it was too widely suspected that the old-fashioned lady had been a sham and that the "wholesome" girl was merely inhibiting a nasty mind and would come to no good end." "Whether prostitution increased or decreased during the decade is likewise uncertain; but certain it is that the prostitute was faced for the first time with an amateur competition of formidable proportions." --‘Only Yesterday An Informal History Of The Nineteen Twenties’, Frederick Lewis Allen (1931)

Chivalry is founded in Martial Arts. It's the way of the horseman class. That's what it literally means. The knightly class. The gentlemen. Because gentlemen don't beat up on the weak. Feminism's campaign against it has always been stupid. It's literally what they have been asking for but like everything else once they got what they asked for they cried even harder because they have no idea how unfair it is to be "equals" nor do they understand just how many rules men have always lived under.

Another aspect of this is because of the feminist movement more men were growing up without fathers in the house. So they didn’t have a model for how to deal with their anger . this resulted in an uptick in domestic violence amongst men from fatherless homes

I am reminded of one of my favorite movie quotes... Probably a loosely based paraphrased but hopefully accurate... From James Bond a Quantum of Solace... “Know a Man by the Strength of his Enemies.” Chivalry is not truly completely dead. It’s just so rare as to be thought functionally extinct except by those who still practice it where and when possible and appropriate.

Exactly. -1- Equals -- we don't owe each other anything other than basic respect, and the rules apply to us equally. -2- Superior&Inferior -- the superior (ex Adult) has Authority over the inferior (ex Child), but also has a responsibility to protect them. I'm still waiting for anyone to explain to me how we can have a Fair system that allows any group to switch between 1 & 2. -OR- Any third option, that again, is a fair system that could be applied to various groups/peoples.

The closest I've gotten to explanations are responses like "this is just the way women are," "This is just how it works," or "I feel it is ok." -- The problem is that these type of answers aren't principled, moral, ethical, etc. They could be considered pragmatic or utilitarian, but pragmatism and utilitarianism are nicer ways of saying "the ends justify the means."

The death of chivalry didn't cause an increase in domestic violence. Relationship and causality are two different things. That is an incorrect conclusion. What caused an increase in domestic violence is the destruction of the nuclear family. If there are two strong parental figures in the household, children are far less likely to become violent and have issues later in life.

What doesnt come up in these dicussion (usually) is how each gender shows aggression. Women are largely passive-aggressive.... Thats their natural way to show aggression.... But this aggression is not usually recognized, since there is no physical manifestation. Men, on the other are not passive-aggressive, they are physically aggressive... that is their natural way to show aggression... This is the only aggression that is being recognized in today's times, because there is physical manifestation. What Joe Rogan didnt address is that, a strong man will accept a fight if he is pushed into it by a weaker man. He is not going to back out, simply because he knows he can win a physical fight. But the same standard is not applied to women, when women show passive-aggression on men, they are picking up a fight. Its not fair to say that no man should beat up a woman just because they are physically weaker. An aggression should be evaluated based on what caused the aggression than who is stronger and weaker.

Trying really hard to hang on to a past that is no longer applicable, and is hated. Declaring knowledge of how we were in the near past is ridiculous, not needed, and just virtue signaling. We know the symptoms, it's the cause that we can not safely, and bluntly address without sever retribution. We allowed the purposeful removal social norms while cheering those that made the change. More power to them and now we see what they do with the power given 🤣

This is a really condescending take for working class men "you need chivalry rituals so you don't forget your not supposed to beat your wives." and what evidence is there that this is the case? did domestic violence rates go up significantly after this point where chivalry supposedly died? My suggestion would be; stop effing worrying about what some dingbat broad would say and stay true to yourself. Be a gentleman at every opportunity. As for the dingbat, my response? "Sorry this offended you, but my parents raised me to have manners." You can add the appropriate sentence after that.
