He is able to compliment his bandmates because he is now mature and sober. When you are young and fucked-up all the time, it is not as easy. Yeah, Joe and Steven really did not get along for a good portion of the time because they are very much Yin and Yang personalities. Steven is an extrovert and a showman, while Joe is introverted and does not want to be on camera. But, put them in a room together and let them work, they can make magic. Look at many partnerships over the years and it works the same way, Yin and Yang. Lennon/McCartney, Jagger/Richards, were the same way. Some other bands that are not as popular have worked because it is the same concept of duality.

And I don’t think ‘having a great time destroying yourself’ even comes CLOSE to heroin addiction. I got started from a moto injury on painkillers in high school, eventually I was taking handfuls of pills at a time and it went on from there. As far as ravaging my family , my ‘family’ didn’t know for 5 years , my mother didn’t know until the day I left. The whole point of this comment was avoiding opiates , there’s so many alternatives out there. I was young , but I was also stupid. Just like a lot of people walking out ofa doctors office with a script. And usually for something totally ridiculous, I cut the tip of my pinky of while working a few months ago and they prescribed me PERCOCET! FOR A FUCKIN CUT. Embrace yourself , don’t hate yourself .. Steven Tyler, One of the BEST DECISIONS you made was doing Idol! You were so very beautiful in spirit and kind to everybody, it inspired a whole new generation to go and find your music which reinvigorated your band and popularity. Aerosmith should be giving you many thanks. Because of you, many more people found your music, bought your music and allowed you to go back out and fill the places/pack the halls of new fans loving your music. Congratulations. Really enjoyed your session with Joe. Am definitely going to buy your book.

When I was about 12 and Steven was about 17, he hunted me in the woods in Grassy Sprain Yonkers with a slingshot. The coolest story from back in the was when my friend came home from Spellmen HS in the Bronx around 1973. He told me his music teacher, Mr. Tillerico brought in a song his son wrote called “Dream On” or something liked that. He said it was a cool song. Then about a year or so later, I went to see Black Sabbath and this band Aerosmith opened for them. They did that song Dream On. Suddenly I put 2 and 2 together and recognized that guy Steven Tyler was the guy that shot at me with a slingshot and through snowballs at us. BTW, as a small time local band front man, I think Steven Tyler is my favorite front man ever.

I think it might have something to do with maturity and making wiser decisions. Many while they're young feel invincible and party 24/7 and burn the candle at both ends and then your body and life's decisions drag you to the mirror and punch you square in the nose. Next thing you know you're taking better care of your family and self. You have a better appreciation for the gift of life. Just my opinion..He could have some secret anti aging tech..
