ALOT of bad ideas being tossed around here, and I'd adivse you not to take any of what they said as scripture however engaging it might have been. On top of all the pseudo-philosophical mumbo jumbo what on earth was that about consuming the suffering of a chicken along with its biomatter!?? A living thing's perceptions and experiences are a product of its environment and neurological composition, the latter of which is destroyed upon death. You CANNOT have "chicken feelings" inside of you from eating a chicken so I'd cross my fingers and hope that one day scientists can figure out a way to transplant a fowl nervous system into a human being.

A student asked his teacher, "Is that god," pointing to a basket. The teacher said Yes. He then pointed to a nearby animal and said, "Is that god?" - "Yes," The teacher replied. Finally the student came to an elephant, and realizing that it was God, began to kneel before it and pray. The elephant promptly smashed the students head. "Yes, the elephant is also god" Said the teacher, and went about his merry fuckin' business.

19:50 Spot on. Our ears and eyes, and in general our senses are pitifully limited and specialized. Our perception (and intuition) of existence would be flipped upside down if we could imagine having "limitless" eyes. We would no longer have this notion of "empty space", if we were to suddenly be able to see the full range of electromagnetic radiation. If our eyes could perceive beyond our "natural" scale of existence, we could further see that nothing is ever still, everything is always moving and dancing in very particular patterns. "Life" itself as a super organism dances a particularly peculiar dance, but we would nevertheless see that everything is constantly in flux, and everything is constantly in communication, and in equilibrium. Human beings are taught literally since birth to regard ourselves as external entities of this indivisible unity/equilibrium (i.e., the whole cosmos, universe, energy, Holy Father/Mother, Dao, Yin Yang, whatever label is attached to it), especially in the West. Each one of us is taught that our consciousness exists as a sort of ethereal, magical entity somewhere inside our heads(?), that we have "souls" somehow assigned to otherwise lifeless bags of bones, and that we're allowed to drive "our" bodies for a certain period of time. The universe is something that "happens" to us, thus very fundamentally, each person feels himself as literally the center of existence (Lol). This is the fundamental definition of the "ego". But quite naturally, when humanity feels itself like this (and this wasn't always so), you feel like the "other", the universe, is out to get you, and you must conquer it. Thus we conquer the outside, the rest of our being, the planet, nature. It's out there for us to subdue and beat. It's no coincidence that this secular "spirituality" and scientific dogma that has taken over the West in the last century has brought us to where we are today, literally on the brink of nuclear annihilation of not only humanity, but all forms of Life, every ecosystem erased and vanished. Shit even our own bodies feel strange to a large, large number of people, like a burden, something you need to take care of or else. Lol, we're a long way from our path, and maybe we've been off it for too long to the point where there's no return. But it all stems from the ego, and this notion of reality which is now standard in modern life, and if we keep fundamentally tricking ourselves to feel we are nothing but mere alien visitors to a foreign existence, then we'll always be bound to destroy it. edit: Daymn loved this podcast
