Why would the phrase "this guy" imply being uniformed or dumb? Its a casual way to refer to the guest on the video everyone is watching. Would it be dumb and uniformed to say "These guys both had a doctors appointment" or just "Looks like they busted out a podcast in a waiting room" The "They" or "These Guys" or "This guy" are all assuming since we have the same information we don't need to repeat them.
@williamoleary4108
@williamoleary4108 7 жыл бұрын
@brandon rose - Exactly. It was meant to be a joke and that's the reason behind the delivery. People that actually have a sense of humor picked up on it. The insinuation of "this guy" is to suggest that Joe met the gentleman there out of coincidence - as if Joe and THIS GUY had a doctor's appointment at the same office, which upon their unplanned meeting, resulted in a spontaneous PODCAST.

I just stumbled upon Sapolsky's lecture series in Standford channel and they have been really good. Every sentence is full of information yet as a lecturer he is so skilled that I'm not losing my attention even on the most difficult subjects. I'm not a student of any of those disciplines which Sapolsky is involved but still he explains everything so well that I have no dificulties following eventhough I'm not native english speaker. Joe Rogan keep up bringing scientists and other influental people to your show and you have done your part in saving humankind. You are clearly on a mission.

hello, after watching his lecture, I decided to buy his latest book Behave. I read about 20-30 books a year for a few years already (about everything from pharmacology, communication, statistics, physics/chemistry, biology whatever) and this is probably in my top 5 books I've ever read. Funny enough, Behave led me to read other books which also are in this top 5 (Moral Tribes / Us & Them), and I discovered Biology from his lectures. I also finished another of his book Why zebras don't get ulcers, it's an older one but still on point on everything (3rd edition). I studied communication for 4 years, and Behave + Sapolsky taught me more about communication than all my university communication professors reunited (mostly because communication avoid all the neuroscience, evolutionary and psychologiocal stuff, which is a terrible mistake IMO). If you enjoy Sapolsky's lectures and like reading, go grab Behave dude, you won't be disappointed (cautions it's 700+ pages tho)

*Get more deep guests like this on your show, please !* The world is super complex. There are larger games going on. Religion, politics, corporations are not in control, they are just riding on top of the other forces. Fugal infections, viruses, gut bacteria can influence what people do and what they eat, what they feel and what they fear. The world is getting wasted on coffee, sugar, meat and entertainment. The addiction to sugar and the taste of fatty meat lead to the deforestation of the rain forest for the meat industry. Let's see where we will go from that. There is also a simple experiment to see how diet and the food and the gut bacteria play us like fools all the time. It's a fun game to play to see how the mind changes, when you supply the gut bacteria with different foods. A good experiment is to drink coffee in the morning, then to drink mild green tea in the next morning, and write the mood differences down. The different food produce the different results and the diet can change culture or influence the general mood in the country.

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy your body will be full of darkness. And if your body is full of darkness, woe how great is that darkness". Mathew 6:22. Your eyes are the window to the soul. A genuine holy person can read someone's mind just by looking into their eyes. People intuitively know this and are weary of eye contact. The good thing about a holy person being able to see into your wicked heart, holy people don't judge. Anyone actually able to peek into your dark soul is nice enough not to condemn you. Jordan Peterson said last week on Joes podcast "You have to confront that darkness inside yourself." Everyone sins. God loves the saint as much as the sinner. And God forgives anyone that asks.
