I liked his idea of doing shorter things, like maybe 15 minute or less videos. I'm not sure he has the skill of talking for long periods of time on his own to an audience, or interviewing a guest, but if he released short videos on youtube, about whatever, people would probably be enthused to watch and hear it. But like he said, he will only do it if he feels the motivation to do it, or that it's his path. Joe Rogan telling him he should do a podcast isn't going to motivate him, he would need to feel it on his own, know he wants to do it, and know what he wants to do. And what more does he have to say when we can already listen to his interviews and watch him climbing mountains? Anything he might say would possibly be overshadowed by the great footage that's already out there; the greatness that he's already accomplished might make talking into a mic seem mundane and minuscule in comparison. But who knows? There's still plenty of potential endeavors left for him, he's only 33 yrs old. As long as he doesn't die, he can do pretty much whatever he wants.

@desertingdessert9385 жыл бұрын
I mean boxing your pretty much guaranteed to have some sort of head trauma if your in it for a long time which is going to fuck with you mentally whereas if your an incredibly experienced climber and you start free soloing on shit you constantly practice on and that you can consistently do cleanly the risk for injury is probably far lower
@jakegill2145 жыл бұрын

@karlsteeves81165 жыл бұрын
@Kegan Gowen Why are you even arguing him there bud? Alex fucking agreed with the sentiment in the podcast.
@chaseblauvelt70085 жыл бұрын
In the film Alex talks about risk vs consequence. For experienced climbers risk is relatively low (still high when compared to most everyday activity) but the consequence is almost always death. In boxing, the risk is extremely high and the consequence is brain damage. they are both very very very reckless and require balls. I would still rather box than free solo but the danger isn't incomparable.

Andrew Andrus ~ see, while I agree he interrupts I also believe he can keep the conversation going. It’s the latter that fuels the former ~ maybe the other way around ~ who knows. So, it does get frustrating at times, like when he has important guests who are making a solid point and he cuts them off. However, sometimes you get guests that drop one word sentences and he pulls them along.
@VigEuth4 жыл бұрын
Joe's pretty good at keeping a conversation going. It's his lack of knowledge on basic scientific and historic facts, his lack of specific research on his interviewees, and his willingness to launder bad ideas without really challenging them that are infuriating. He's letting everyone know he's a man who doesn't give a shit about your opinions. However, if that shirt actually fit Joe's wife then she must turn green sometimes. This would explain why Joe needs to be so jacked at 51yo.

I reckon Alex would be a good dad. He seems thoughtful and rational and down-to-earth (lol) yet secure in himself. Inspirational

He's very science oriented and logical. He's an Atheist, Environmentalist and very educated in health & nutrition

He'd probably be a terrible dad though. He leads a high risk lifestyle and clearly values his personal freedom over a settled family life. He'd be bailing on his kids for months to go risk his life climbing big piles of rock. I'm not hating, just being realistic.

I get told I'd be a good faher for the same reasons and I know I'd be a shit father because my life is about doing what I want when I want to similar to Alex's life. Being a parent means making nearly all of your decisions with someone else in mind and that someone just happens to be extremely dependent on you. Alex is a great person but unless he drastically changed himself, he'd be a shit parent. Granted he's come a long way since living in a van but he still isn't there yet.

Charles Catt No. Logic out of the mouth, but living with no logic and daredeviling is not a good parent skill. A parent owes a certain sense of security and stability to a dependent child. As far as being a communicator with children, I agree. But bad Dad. Also, he makes it very clear in the video in a face-to-face chat with his girlfriend that her feelings or fears are of no consequence. Shrugs her off. Fine. She can leave. Imagine your father saying that.
