My husband and I got backlash just this weekend from his siblings who are all gay. Even as far as getting kicked out of a birthday party and told to not come back until he can “accept” his siblings all being gay. He’s never really agreed with same sex attraction, but never loved his siblings less. Just won’t say much because he’s usually ganged up on for “not being supportive”. Most people looking for acceptance are basically asking you to wave a pride flag and want to have you see them making out with each other. Not being outspoken ironically makes them very angry. Coming from people who want acceptance, they’re not very accepting when your opinion and feelings doesn’t align with what they want. Sure I’d love for my husband to be okay with them but he’s still entitled to how he feels. They just want everyone to agree with them and if you don’t, you’re hated.

Due to, perhaps still, largest tort claim in legal history, internal documents showed that Ford did a cost analysis, and worked out it was cheaper to pay out on the insurance claims in the event of a crash, than it was to recall, and rectify, every single Pinto made with that fault. Even now, more than 45 years later, it still is regarded as perhaps the biggest automotive scandle to hit a single car manufacturer ... @misool Nuclear family? We're just gonna skip over the old view of the best version of a family being a man, woman, and child (mind you definitely not a black one)? Are gays and lesbians destroying the nuclear family? You have so many right wing buzzwords, but can you substantiate any of it?
@Killopotamus5 жыл бұрын
@misool So just to be clear so there is no pivoting here, you acknowledge the model of the nuclear family is exclusionary in its concept. Going from that premise, can you show me the photos in the 1920s or 1950s of a depicted nuclear family that is not white? The issue is you're taking this literally, but even in doing so you realize the failure of the nuclear family to adopt to modern standards. Another aspect of this is racial exclusion by depicting this dream-like state of a perfect family in America being white. If you want to take this hyper literal then you've already acknowledged it is exclusionary. Can you defend the concept of the "nuclear family" being dismantled or taken down and what that means exactly? To me it sounds like as we get further away from this depiction of heterosexual white couple as the normal family, it makes you uncomfortable. And I asked you to substantiate your claims. I never said I hate due process or meritocracy. You already have this idea of me that I hate these things because I have dissented. Meritocracy is fine and so is due process. In an ideal world these concepts are fine. To be more clear, what I want to know is how is "Social Justice" destroying these things and what is social justice? The term is used a lot when people refer to an extremist red haired feminist on a college campus, and then conflated with anybody who supports civil rights. So explain to me what YOU mean by it and how the fundamental concept of "social justice" attacks meritocracy, due process, etc.
@Killopotamus5 жыл бұрын
@madcheeseknight What do you mean by social justice though? Because getting people of color and women an equal shot at something by dismantling ill perceptions of them based on their identity is what I would fight for. This is also a dismantling of the "normal" person (heterosexual, caucasian, male) being the norm, so identity is not an issue on both sides of the spectrum (beneficial and detrimental) Victimized and marginalized groups become protected classes, because they receive discrimination for their identity. Trying to rid the world of discrimination in a social justice movement is not the same as elevating groups with certain identities over others. You're (3rd person, as in SJWs) trying to level the playing field. If the playing field is better for the general concept of "normal", then someone who isn't "normal" gets the same permissions or rights to operate in society, this isn't valuing someone over the other because of their identity. Its evening the odds. The status quo is someone being favored based on their skin color or gender. Social justice would seek to dismantle the very thing you're accusing social justice of doing.

20 years ago when I did my first 2 degrees, I was a grade A student, top marks for critical essays. Recently, I went to do another MA. I Failed most essays because I refused to use the 'theory' and was criticising things like indentity politics, terms like BAME etc. (I am Black). It appeared to me that academia had absolutely gone down the pit. However, Feminism is a legitimate discipline, as are many others, they have been hijacked by identity politics. Personally, I believe it is the defeat of actual Leftwing politics, meaning, class unity and anti-capitalism, that has led us to this nadir.

What they are talking about is why I do not necessarily want to be called a feminist even though I have mostly feminist leanings. I think there are a lot of "feminists" who are way too far out there and go far beyond female power to male hate/bashing. I felt sympathy for the white man (really) when they were talking about how they are automatically label as racists just because they are white men. That's horrible. I know a lot of great white men and wouldn't ever think they were racists. Perspective is key. What a great conversation! So highly intellectual!

There are countries in which females are being systematically killed, circumcised ( if you can call it that ), abused, violated, enslaved. But females in Germany, UK and the US feel like they just don't have it good enough. Why don't they channel their abilities and influence towards those countries? Is it too dangerous for them to target the countries where feminism would make sense? Females fighting for rights not so long ago put their hands into fire. Now is just a hobby. I applaud you for not being part of what is actually hurting females. Which is modern feminism.

@Fhjthnl Lol Iuyo I can only speak for me. I have no issue with anyone celebrating who they are. But celebrating you shouldnt come at the expense or detriment of someone else. There is a distinct different between being proud of who you are and thinking what you are is better than someone else. A lot of what you have said is somewhat spoken in absolutes. Like all black people think the same way. They don't. Neither do all whites obviously. Or whatever race or category you want to throw up. The problem is focusing on differences and not enough on commonality. Hopefully a day will come when we can be human and leave it at that. Everyone's struggle is jusy that. I wish you well no matter who you are. You will get no hate from me. I hope that others will do the same. It starts w the little things. Be well.

It’s weird how as different societies have become more and more connected via technologies, instead of it breaking down barriers it has actually made people form even tighter groups. People conflate their group identity with their own so closely that the public whims of the group (usually the most extreme) fully dictate their behaviour out of fear of being outcast from that group.

There's a word that describes when you start with a finishing conclusion and then back-construct everything so that it can point nowhere but to that already-written conclusion. Propaganda. It's not science, it's not education . . . it's not even art. It's propaganda of an agenda. (Which BTW, is why the latest Star Wars circa Kathleen Kennedy broke the Star War franchise, it's why Ghost Busters II tanked, it's why The Incredibles II was a pale shadow of the original. They were not art. They were propaganda for an ideology, and the fans didn't appreciate that).

The Last Jedi got 774 million in box office whereas Revenge of the Sith got 848 million. Star Wars has been a cash cow and merchandising empire with a film series attached to it since A New Hope was released, how exactly did the latest movie break the franchise other than making a certain irritable fanbase mad?
@griz0635 жыл бұрын
@@greenbrickbox3392 Make no mistake. That "certain irritable fanbase" is growing very rapidly. People go to movies to be entertained; not to have ideologies preached at them or rammed down their throats.
