John Oliver is British. If he was anymore white he'd be fucking transparent. When you do a Google image search for "generic white male", John is like 5 times whiter than anyone on that page. So given that his show is him sitting in front of a camera for 30 minutes, you didn't watch the show if you can't tell me he's white. Also, it's not a 20 monologue. That's just the show. They talk about one thing for 20-25 minutes. So it's not like the 20 minute monologue on NRATV was something they did special either.

There are a few things about this that are kind of weird: 1) John Oliver mentioned three-four shows total. So it's not that surprising this guy wasn't mentioned. A lot of people weren't mentioned. 2) John Oliver not mentioning you does not mean he was avoiding you. 3) He formed an entire argument against John Oliver, judging his beliefs and his motives without knowing the most basic information about him, such as his skin colour. That makes it pretty evident that he more than likely didn't even watch the episode and therefore can't reasonably make an argument against it. 4) he consciously conflates being Anti-NRA or Pro-Gun Control with being Anti-Gun.

I have been watching John Oliver for a few years now, and there are two things I know: 1. He and his team do a great job researching a subject and providing enough information that anyone at least a little bit reasonable can draw their own conclusion regardless of how (un)informed they had been before. Does he try hard to prove a point? Absolutely. But whenever he feels strongly about an issue, he tends to say it out loud ("I happen to think that..." etc.), he does not subtly push his audience towards his own opinion. 2. I have never seen him shy away from responsibility for his content. Yes, he usually stresses out he´s not a journalist. Still, to my, knowledge, he´s never shrugged something off as merely a piece of comedy or backtracked on something because he got uncomfortable. Personally, I believe that comedy, and political satire especially, are great ways of sharing important information (if done well, obviously). People are more likely to remember something complex and become engaged in an issue if they can relate to a narrative and not simply attend a lecture. Also, I just love how both these guys completely missed the point of Last Week Tonight. Unless the host is being sarcastic, he does not get it either. It has never been just a comedy piece trying to take a Mickie out of silly videos or unreasonable agencies. It´s a program that seeks to point at systemic problems and educate people on things that are fundamentally broken and often, the public has no idea. Comedy is a tool, not the objective of the show.

He just constantly assumes and believe what he assumes must be true and take extremely long time to realize when he made a mistake.
