I watched House of Numbers and it was very compelling. But Christine Maggiore (she was in House of Numbers) and her daughter allegedly died. It says at the end of House of Numbers that she did not die from HIV, but I read a few sources online saying that she did die from HIV. If she and her daughter did die from HIV, don't their deaths debunk the theory that HIV doesn't cause AIDS? What's your opinion on she and her daughter's deaths? I still lean towards believing that HIV doesn't cause AIDS.

Joe, a pathologist can generally determine cause of death. So from that perspective its all that matters. Patient A gets AIDS, then he does Methamphetamine for two days straight and he ends up dying, the pathologist will determine what the underlying cause of death was. It could be either, but only one will contribute to the actual death of the person. It can also be death by, with a contributing factor of. So just for reference, AIDS doesn't technically kill you, though we attribute a death to it by saying, if not for the fact that he or she got HIV, and then AIDS this person might be alive, but it almost exclusively becomes an issue where AIDS is contributing with the root cause being the disease that AIDS opened your body to getting in the first place. Candidiasis, Cryptococcal meningitis, Toxoplasmosis, and Cryptosporidiosis are all infections that can come from having AIDS which reduces the immune system's ability to fight it. These infections can lead to death, where the underlying cause is AIDS, but death was from the infection itself. Cancers like Kaposi's sarcoma which is almost exclusively attributed to AIDS will kill you, but they will say its AIDS related, even though death was from the cancer itself.

Here's a thought: If they test for HIV by testing for the antibodies the patient's body already made, (i.e the body already met the retrovirus and kicked its ass,) what's the worry exactly? And wouldn't this, by definition, preclude EVER having a vaccine against HIV, since it would mean certain doom as after getting it you would presumably test positive? Anyone vaccinated against polio would test positive for polio. Does this mean you're going to get polio now? Seems the only thing they've done is dialed-down the dosage and thus the toxicity of the meds and can now claim, "See you're living longer and better than before..." Freddy Mercury, talented though he was, was incredibly reckless in his lifestyle choices. He lived on less than five hours of sleep a day and lived on cigarettes, booze, and almost certainly a shit-ton of other drugs including poppers. When he was told he had HIV, he took to radiation treatment AND AZT...it was only after that his appearance and overall health really started downhill...not that he was all that healthy to begin with due to his lifestyle. For all the money spent on AIDS, there is surprisingly little to show for it.

You realize there's a world outside of America? Most AIDS research is motivated by the pandemic in Africa. Doctors realize we are good here, however much of the AIDS research funding is trying to stop the over half million yearly deaths worldwide. The treatments have only become effective enough where we can debate this in the last 5-10 years as well. More could be spent on Alzheimer's but if doesn't have the same mortality rate so it's not going to get as urgent of a focus medically
