I think Matt Walsh's argument failed because he tried to argue a Christian stance without using Christianity. Marriage in the Bible is described as the union of a man and woman, as shown in genesis, but he tried to explain the reason for the biblical argument without using the Bible.

Indeed, even though I am Christian, I think that any consenting adult should be allowed to marry because,in our current legal system, marriage is a legally binding contract between two parties to share assets and wealth. You’re very right about how to become an expert, Tom. I teach art, oil painting specifically. And I tell all of my students the same thing; anyone can learn and get to basically a professional degree of competence. It’s just about how much work you’re willing to put in. It’s 100% the truth. And while there may be occurrences of born genius, or virtuosity, that’s incredibly rare and untrue for 99% of professional artists.
@RenegadeVile10 ай бұрын
Indeed. I see it as a kind of 'upper limit'. Innate talent might mean you learn faster and intuitively, it might give you a higher upper limit, but anyone can reach at least a high level of competence.

@@RenegadeVile Well said. Some may start out slightly more inclined than others but it’s definitely true when I say that *anyone* can learn. I hate this weird concept of “some people just not being able to learn certain things”. As long as you’re of average intelligence, you can learn nearly anything within reason, as Tom said. And even intelligence really doesn’t factor in all too much for most things.
@sdfabctr10 ай бұрын
@@John-mf1sz yeah, It's difficult to quantify how much "talent" actually contributes for numerous reasons, it certainly seems to be self evidently true if someone can master something in 5 years that takes others ten or more years to master then they now have 5 extra years to master other skills or further their mastery that the others didn't, however. Most people don't even put in the ten years into mastering a skill so the "professional" standard is probably achievable for just about anybody. I do think that outliers like Da Vinci was in his own time are probably actually impossible for most people to become, he had such a unique visionary perspective of the world that I don't think just anybody could've developed it.
@John-mf1sz10 ай бұрын
@@sdfabctr Yes, people definitely can be predisposed to learn quicker within certain subjects naturally. Some may have a slight natural affinity that given some honing and direction can be molded into something incredible. But truly awe-inspiring natural genius *nearly* doesn’t exist. The amount of people I’ve heard throughout the years talk as if art, for instance, is something you’re either just going to naturally be able to do or not. And that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a skill like any other. People like DaVinci, Dalì, Picasso, Botticelli, etc. People like them are born like once in a generation. They’re freaks of absolutely perfect genes that somehow create the perfect storm for a hyper accelerated, natural artist. Which is just, mind bogglingly rare. Dalì was painting professional realism basically by the time he was 7-8 years old. It’s wild.

There's always a time and place, I sometimes take a very small puff off my cart at work and that's only for when I need to just make myself look more approachable and sociable. Idk about y'all but I can't stand social interactions constantly and taking a small puff instantly changes my view of it all. The idea that everyone gets obliterated from a small amount is so silly, like ofc I'm going to be impaired but I can limit myself and function usually better with a buzz over being sober. it helps break down my sharp edges and takes my walls down a bit so I can actually appear like I wanna be there having a conversation instead of looking like a jaded uncaring asshole that could shoot lazers from their eyes across the room if you say the wrong thing. I don't wanna have a rbf or the aura of someone who doesn't give 2 shits and smoking assists me be a bit more normal. I always enjoy your videos. I like the discussions they can start. I hear your point about weed use, and I can agree to an extent. I think any substance can be misused/abused with negative outcomes. I also think it can be a very individual situation. I know people who smoke or get high almost all waking hours of the week. Before weed, one friend was in shape, went out, and kept the house clean. Recently, he's admitted it's a problem as those things have gone in the opposite direction. He's cut out his use of weed, and now is struggling with severe depression (likely the weed was a mask of this issue). I also used to be the same. However it did the opposite. I went from living in a gross and unclean room, failing school, and never going out to the opposite. I have since stopped all together, and I have started to really struggle again with those things. During my time smoking, I would never go to work high. I wouldn't go to any formal events or anything important high. I'm not sure what the difference between us was. I am disabled. I have narcolepsy (and a handful of others). My best theory is that the weed somehow reacted with my brain to keep me awake. I only smoked sativas as indicas would just knock me out. I think it probably was a kind of stimulant. Now im diagnosed with narcolepsy, and im being treated with meds. I don't like the meds, but it does keep me legally allowed to drive and hold a job. I actually think I prefer the weed, but it's not cost-effective. I also don't like the way it makes me feel while on my meds. Makes me paranoid and anxious. I'd love to see more studies done on weed and narcolepsy specifically. For now, I'm happy with the rare smoke just the same as I treat alcohol. I think weed can be beneficial. I also think it can be just as useful for a one night off addition here and there.

As someone who smokes weed every day, works a job, goes to college, has IBS and other undiagnosed health problems… I think it’s important to understand that everyone is different. When I smoke I don’t get the munchies, I don’t get giggle fits but I *do* feel better.

yeah bro i totally agree, a large group of people could never keep information secret. For example, the Manhattan Project as depicted in the recent fictional movie Oppenheimer, could never have happened in real life because as we know, nothing ever can be kept secret. the earth isn't flat but you could approach the flat earth question in countless ways, each of which would have been more effective

19:30 ish, totally agree you shouldn’t argue about the stinky green menace with him but he’s really been open to the idea that not everyone needs to smoke it in their lifetime and even recommends that someone who is having a bad time with it should continue nor continue smoking if they are schizo affective or other disorders that weed could make worse. loved the video man and i hope you have a good day, off to work i go

26:43. It definitely does. It can make you feel more focused, but you’re not actually. It could also flip on you and make you panic for no reason at any time. I’m a stoner, and I still would never drive on any substances. Stupidly dangerous even if you’re good at functioning while high

24:00 Weight divisions exist still. And HRT can actually hinder the user's physical prowess. It's technically a handicap while competing in the proper divisions.

there is a livestream of a satellite orbitting the earth online right now if anybody's curious. I guess you'd have to set off a nuke or do something that could be seen from space to verify if it's truly LIVE live but it's there, you can watch it, the satellite's just vibing in space going around the earth.

There's no tax incentives for marriage. The married filing joint tax bracket is literally just double the single tax bracket. You can get a deduction for having dependents, which are traditionally children.

tom my dude, i watch a lot of your content and really think you need to learn compression. you sometimes talk VERY low, and then you will say something loudly and because you have no compression on, i have to manually adjust volume at times... which is literally what a compressor in audio does. i think it would help out a lot, until then i'll just continute compressing it myself with chrome extension but i do think it would help in overall presentation
Not refuting the attraction points, but check out some studies on birth control and its effect on attraction... Wild

I think women saying they're not into tall shredded dudes is them not wanting to seem "basic" so they say they're into something else. Same as dudes saying they're not into busty blondes, sure neither may be your personal ideal but they're objectively attractive and you're lying if you say you wouldn't date one who was also nice to you etc.
