@Goku He says that all the drugs flow through Rotterdam, ALL OF IT. That is a lie. Many drugs enter Europe through the port of Antwerp (Belgium). Then he says that every ecstasy pill is manufactured in the Netherlands. Another lie. The Netherlands is perhaps the largest producer of ecstasy (MDMA), but certainly not the only one. Then he starts about the Mocro mafia and the murders in the underworld. he says people pretend it doesn't happen, another lie. I have not yet met a single Dutchman who says that no murders have taken place. that guy just keeps spouting nonsense without thinking what he's saying. and i could go on and on about the things he says about the farmers, coffee shops etc...but i think you got the point by now.

Dutch guy speaking, sorry but there are so many errors here. Despite the fact that cities here are perfectly safe and that you don't notice a single thing regarding the drug trade as a citizen. Adam's discussion of the Dutch farmers was loaded with errors. The farmers are not 'going away' and nobody here wants to get rid of them. But due to ridiculously high subsidies for meat production in the Netherlands throughout the last century, the concentration of cattle in this very small country is absurdly large. Because cattle emit a lot of nitrogen, our nitrogen (ammonia) emissions is thereby among the highest of the world. 2:40 Secondly, I have been following news and scientific reporting on the nitrogen crisis for years and I have never heard anyone mention that nitrogen hurts a certain type of frog. Excessive nitrogen pollution substantially damages ecosystems and degrades biodiversity. Concentrations of nitrogen in the environment also contribute to respitory problems in people. So no, it's not about a certain type of frog. 2: 57 Thirdly, profits, growth and political influence of the enormous cattle industry in the Netherlands (this is a huge billion dollar industry) completely trumps that of vegan producers. It is ridiculous to describe this problem as a meat-alternatives producer using their political influence to outcompete small innocent farmers who just own a few cows. The Dutch cattle farmers that are affected by the Nitrogen measures are 'megastallen', which are huge cattle farms with thousands of cows. This industry has been lobbying in our government for decennia. Only now the government has to conform to European regulations, after having postponed taking action for years. Also - and this is I think the funniest part - Royal DSM which Adam mentioned is a producer of feed for cattle!!! On their website, plant based products is just a category of the products that they produce, literally next to dairy!! At around 3:40 I couldn't make sense of Adams train of thought anymore. I guess it's something like: if you have a population that eats vegan meat substitutes than the businesses can make more money and they will instrumentalize consumers to make profits. Just one question, do you think meat is free in the Netherlands?? Because this is also a product that you have to buy. The farmers that you call "competition" for the vegan producers are also commercial businesses Adam, they are also making money from consumers. 4:05 This is also a crazy statement. The government is not getting rid of farmers. Enormous cattle factories need to decrease their production, they don't need to close their businesses.Small scale farmers are largely unaffected, except for a very small amount that are located next to natural parks. These will also have to decrease their cattle, but again, no one urges them to close down. All these farmers will remain, some of them will just have to switch to less production or from meat production to growing produce. 4:33 No again. The protests have been going on for months, not a week. Please at least look at the news before making these assumptions. Support for the farmers protests have (in my opinion remarkably) been very high in this country. Partly due to misinformation such as this very segment. 6:05 No one is forcing you to eat 'fake' meat and no one is forbidding you from flying. Please give me one country where eating meat or flying is forbidden by law. Climate change is not an excuse for policy, it is a scientific truth Adam.

Living in Amsterdam for the past 6 years as a foreigner, the redlight district is still open and so are the coffeeshops. Amsterdam is one of the safest cities in the world, afterall it got the 6th place in the safety-city-index (score: 79.3, of 0 to 100, where 100 = best health, and anything above 75.1 is very high in safety) right behind Tokyo, from 60 places of all countries in the world. The nitrogen policy and farmer protest is more complex than being portrayed here, and so is the Mocro mafia and the laws regarding drugs.

The current drug problem in NL is because the policy wasn't lenient enough. It was a half measure of "gedoogbeleid/tolerance policy" of use while production and supply remained illegal. So the dutch govt kept production and distribution in the hands of criminal organisations by illegalising it, while also giving them a huuuuge market by legalising use. In fact, the Mocro Mafia (Ridouan Taghi's organisation) started with a hasj smuggling route from Morocco to the Netherlands and then added cocaine to that existing route which made him a lot more money. If production and distribution were legalised from the beginning (back in the 70's), none of these distribution routes for hasj and weed from Turkey and Morocco would have existed and they wouldn't facilitate more lucrative drugs today. Now cocaine has given so much money to these drug mafias that it's really difficult to combat them because of the power they amassed. It's akin to mafia that flourished during prohibition in the USA.

This guy is right on some things but other things are kind of nonsense. The red light district is still there. The competition litterally can't have production plants where the farmers are with the legal designation or 'bestemmingsplan' the government has planned. The actual conspiracy is that we knew about nitrogen emissions and the problems with too much cattle in the 60's but the government and banks back then decided to push farmers to massively expand their cattle and getting rid of crop farms, idk why this guy has to make a conspiracy theory when the real story is a proven conspiracy on its own.

What baffles me is that the latter part of your comment has been so persuasive in the Netherlands, the government-proclaimed problem of too much nitrogen is bland nature parks, which are man made projects anyway. So knowing about this "problem" for 60 years and not changing anything is completely acceptable. This plus the fact documents were leaked for planning increased urbanisation really makes me wonder what the real agenda is.
@laface2361
@laface2361 Жыл бұрын
@@lsshvs8415 I'm not going into the debate itself as I'm pretty tired of it, just pointing out the inaccuracies in what this guy is saying as someone who runs into emission laws here for work, I'm skeptical of said documents but if they were planning to construct anything there then the government is shooting itself in the foot with the designation they are trying to assign to these areas But if you want to get into the conspiracycrafting side, I think agriculture is just the industry with the least tax income relative to their emissions so its easier for them to cut emissions there.

Him saying the Dutch don’t want to fight for their country and coming with the example of what we did in WWII is messed up. We were getting bombed to bits during the war and had no hopes of being able to fight back. Rotterdam, one of our biggest cities, was completely blasted into ruins. However, after “giving up” the brave people here began the resistance which fought HARD against the Germans. It was very successful. It’s about knowing when not to push it and change tactics. That’s something the Americans haven’t heard of, quite evidently

The things being said about nitrogen deposition are absolutely untrue. Nitrogen deposition hurts plant communities and as they are the producers it hurts everything upchain. Not just one frog, that's rediculous. The gorvernment is also not planning to buy out all farmers, but mainly a list of 100 most polluting farms. The Netherland is the biggest exporter of farmed goods after the US, while it's one of the smallest countries in europe. You don't have to be a genius to understand that isn't going to be sustainable in the long term.

Almost everything this guy is saying is factually incorrect (as is very common on the JRE): - The red light district is still there - Coffeeshops (weed dispensaries) are still there - For the record: sex work is totally legal (of course under regulation like any industry), cannabis is subject to the tolerance policy. - While yes, the Netherlands is the biggest producer of XTC in the world, by no means was it invented here (it was in 1912 in Germany) - The Netherlands has a relatively low murder rate of about 0.6 per 100,000 people. In comparison, the highest murder rates in the EU are found in countries like Latvia, with 3.04 per 100,000, and Lithuania, with 2.8 per 100,000 - Amsterdam isn’t the crime capital of the EU by any means either. When comparing per capita murder rates among EU capital cities, Amsterdam has a low rate of about 2.3 per 100,000 people. In contrast, Brussels has a higher rate of approximately 3.6 per 100,000, and Riga reports around 6.2 per 100,000. - One last note on murder rates: Over the last decade, the murder rate in the Netherlands has generally declined, starting from 1.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2013 to around 0.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in recent years. - The plural expression of lawyers and journalist being killed is also incorrect. Derek Wiersum (lawyer) and Peter R. De Vries (journalist) were murdered. Both for assisting a crown witness in the biggest case in Dutch history (so not for De Vries’ journalism). It is a trauma to the country. This is just from the first two minutes alone. Let me be clear: the Netherlands has a huge problem with drugs and the Mocro maffia, no one is denying that. However, what just had been said is a wild mischaracterisation of the facts. I can assure you that this spreading of pure misinformation continues at this rate throughout the rest of the video. A final note: farmers in the Netherlands are not willing to be bought out. Both recent elections for the senate and house of representatives saw landslide wins for the (populist right wing) Farmer Citizen Party (BBB) and the Freedom Party (PVV) and the plan of buying out of farmers has been terminated. Characterising the Netherlands as a very complicit country and then making a reference to the capitulation of the Netherlands to Nazi-Germany as if that was out of some sort of ‘ease’ is not only factually wrong, but also deeply hurtful. The Netherlands capitulated in 1940 after the entire city of Rotterdam had been bombed flat to the ground in just over one hour, leading to the total destruction of the city centre. After which, the Nazi’s made an ultimatum to do the same for other major historic Dutch cities if the Netherlands did not surrender, leaving the small, underarmed country little choice.

Joe you're a great podcaster but you couldn't be more wrong about the whole legalise drugs thing. Every time, be it the Netherlands or the US, that we get more lenient about drugs the drug cartels grow in power, money and danger. They don't disappear and legal regulated businesses don't take their place, rather they get turned Ito fronts for the cartels to launder their profits. It's only by strong and secure borders, restrictive immigration laws and extended powers for law enforcement (Italians are a good example for this) that we will control this problem.

You're wrong and full of shit. The current drug problem in NL is because it wasn't lenient enough. It was a half measure of "gedoogbeleid" of use while production and supply remained illegal. Now cocaine has given so much money to these drug mafias that it's really difficult to combat them. If you don't know about the history of drugs and legislation in the Netherlands, just shut up about it.

Maybe to ambitious.We import soybeans, to grow livestock, all the cow shit( nitrogen) we put in the soil , where biodiversity is lost, and we export 90% of the meat. And yess Dutch farmers are incredibly efficient and innovative, we should be proud, that said, we have to preserve nature as well. And other issues like criminality is seriously problem, but it’s still save here then US , red light district is like tourist attraction, No one in the Netherlands go there, just drunk idiots, making noise, smoking weed on the streets, so we should get rid of the nonsense
