I lost 65lbs in four months just by reducing carbs to only breakfast. Healthy ones at that, oatmeal, whole grains, fruits. Meat and veggies only for lunch and dinner. Lots if water. Excersize 5 days a week. Nothing crazy. No gym memberships. Pushups and running. Stuff you can do at home. Been life changing.

I had a major cerebellar stroke in 2013. Brain surgery, the whole 9 yards. After all this brain trauma, neuro fatigue is a major problem. I can't exercise 'cos I can't walk that far. I wanted to reduce the inflammation in my body so started keto in January 2020. To date (June 2021), my fatigue is way better, my energy levels are much higher, my skin is better. Plus, I happen to have lost 30kgs. I'm the lightest I've been since I was in my 20s. I'm now 63.

utewbing, the problem with that is exercise greatly increases appetite and is not the answer for people struggling with cravings, weight loss etc. @Carlos T, you keep doing what you’re doing man! Start to push towards 18/6 and then 20/4 or one meal a day and only think about adding exercise when you have absolutely killed your addiction to carbs or you’re approaching your ideal weight 💪🏼

I’m 6’2 and in good shape with a 32 inch waist I’m 220. I got all the way up to 312 pounds despite working out 5 days a week and not eating what I thought was a decent diet. I couldn’t lose weight like I could in the past so in my efforts to figure out why I stumbled onto Dr Berg. I went hard full keto with a 21/3 fasting to eating schedule. In 5 months I lost over 100 pounds, after the first 30 days the weight melted off. Apparently I was pre diabetic with insulin resistance. Literally all of my health problems went away, my heart palpitations my swollen joints and joint pain, I slept better had more energy than I knew what to do with as well as a huge increase to my libido. Keto is legit and I feel that sugar is a poison and people eat far far too much.

It's the habit you need nor the substance. Find an innocuous substance. I used to be addicted to marguerite as. Well I guess technically they're called palomas A paloma is squirt to killa lime juice and salt. But they don't make diet squirt anymore and I didn't want to drink anymore. So now I mix fresca which is sugar free lime juice and salt no tequila no sugar. I have one every night when I get home it's awesome. I also have a bone broth with it. That is my nightly ritual I don't miss the sugar I don't miss the booze because I've got this I've got another substance that's virtually calorie free.

I’m not condoning nor supporting the use of weed, but after a long day of work, and working out, smoking always loosens me up. Wether it be giving me tolerance for pain sensation, sleep, testosterone. Hell , i think it helped me with appetite, there’s so many shady substances out there that’s just a fat sloppy mess, substances that can put your entire way of life to shit, but weed is helpful in it’s own merit. Not saying it’s beneficial, some drugs aren’t for everyone.

She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 8 months ago and has almost completely reversed it with diet and mild exercise alone. After cutting out the processed sugars and refined carbs, we both started feeling loads better, our energy levels went up, and we actually look forward to our workouts instead of dreading them! I tried Atkins several times several years ago (basically re branded as Keto of late), with some success and no side effects until the last time. I was in hard core ketosis for several weeks, not hungry and tons of energy, until my heart starting doing something weird, beating really hard and slow to the point where it kept me up at night. Once I went out of ketosis, it went back to normal. Tried again thinking it wasn’t ketosis, weird heart beat came back and I thought this can’t be good so I haven’t gotten back into it since. I think the idea of keto is good, but I just can’t handle being in ketosis anymore which is a bummer.

Best thing to do is finding the best meal plan for the day and repeating it over and over to start. Find something that gives what you need nutritionally and energy wise and eat that every day. So start with finding a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner that satisfies your cravings, gives you your necessary nutrients (which you can also find pills and supplements for). Track if it's giving you the recommended amount of minerals such as iron, potassium, calcium, etc and eat that everyday. Then add another meal plan after you get sick of that. And now you have two days worth of meals you can prepare and alternate every other day. Slowly add more and more until you finally have a whole week planned out and written down. Then life gets easy. It comes down to restocking the ingredients needed and fucking cooking it. Once you have done this it really helps you stay on course and away from donuts, bread, and other foods that are bad for you. Get your shit together

There's nothing wrong with anecdotal evidence in addition to more rigorously gathered scientific evidence. You can be scientific and still discuss anecdotes and case studies. There isn't a scientific study on literally everything accounting for every possible variable, and things vary from person to person. It makes sense to take anecdotal evidence into account where documented experimentation may be lacking.

So hard for people to understand how long you can go without food when we aren't putting carbs and sugar in our pie hole. Went carnivore 4 months ago at 52 and never had so much consistent energy on demand. Still in weight loss mode but plan to try to vary the diet a little more once I reach my fighting weight, wherever that winds up just eating OMAD and eating to satiety.

I'm down 49 lbs. Started 28 August, 2017, at 220lbs. By 27 Nov 2017 I was down to 180 lbs, a pant size and a couple holes tighter on my belt. Less body fat (definitely noticeable). I slowed it down, and haven't been as strict through 2018, and hovered around 177. I've started intermittent fasting 16/8 and leaning keto in food choices, and I'm down to 170-171. This mess is real and practically a miracle worker. Damn near everything can be traced back to what you put on the table.

I've tried a lot of different diets to find what works for me. The fun thing about the diets for me is that I always learn about new ingredients and learn new recipes. Low carb had the biggest impact on my overall well being but was culinarily too restrictive. But reducing carbs and eating whole grains, beans, lentils, lots of vegetables and meats is the sweet spot. But there is no "one size fits all" diet. Try things out and learn about what works for you. And don't shove it down other people's throats! 😊

My GF’s doctor AND endocrinologist can’t give her a straight answer about her recently diagnosed “sub-clinical hypothyroidism”. Nor will they refer her to a dietitian or nutritionist to help with dietary needs. She has gained 30 pounds in the past two years, despite working out six days a week and watching her portion sizes. She’s been put on various thyroid meds, and no drug or dosage helps with her fatigue, continuous weight gain and hair thinning. She was looking into trying out the ketogenic diet, because she’s also insulin-resistant having an under active thyroid, and keto helps with people who have that issue, by lowering or eliminating the intake of bad refined carbs (anything from a packet or a box). But then she heard that keto can put further strain on the thyroid and cause a whole host of other issues in the body. She also read that exercise can stress a hypothyroid body, further exacerbating symptoms. Since she cannot get an answer on the optimal diet or exercise for her condition. Back to square one, and she feels helpless. I’m not a doctor, but I wish I were. I can only google so much with her until it becomes a fucking abyss of marketing ads and money-making fads. This is frustrating. *Any helpful suggestions out there?*

I also have hashimoto's and PCOS. Also rosacea has recently developed, which is supposed to be hormonal. I recommend her check out www.reddit.com/r/hashimotos if she hasn't already. At least it helps you feel not so alone. Also extended fasting has helped me lose weight during quarantine. Cutting out all sugar and carbs except for 90% dark chocolate and fruit / veg seems to help. Unfortunately we can't just eat less and exercise. It's a whole lifestyle adjustment. I don't know if I'll be able to keep this up when I go back to work but for now it's working. Good luck, hope she finds something that helps

@@RustySpoons6490 I have a few cousins with thyroid issues. They all say lchf makes them feel much better and eases the symptoms, but some don't adhere to it constantly because it tends to imoact social life. I also strongly suggest finding a naturopath or someone who knows about herbs. There are a few I know of that impact women's health heavily, but I don't know enough about it to recommend the dose or something. Hope she gets better 😊

I had an allergy for two years, doctor said 70% of allergy have no cure. I was taking antihistamines every two days and the antihistamines would knock me out that I had to sleep 12+ hours. It was messing up my work and sleep. I went on a vegetarian diet for 8 months and a vegan diet for a month and it helped a little bit (only had to take meds once every 4 days). 10 days ago, I decided to cut refined wheat and refined sugar completely out of my diet, and for the first time since I had my allergy it’s been 10 days that I did not have a single allergic reaction to anything! I am overwhelmed with joy for finding this out even though it costs me a lot that I have to eat much meat and clean veggies but it’s totally worth it!

Probably you're sensitive=aka you have an allergy to gluten, which a lot of people don't even realize, and when you quit gluten, you feel better. Also try quitting all commercial meat and dairy products (as they're full of antibiotics that are given to all domestic animals in the US at least to prevent infections and maximize profits), and then you'll cure all your allergies. Your immune system is weak because your intake of diary and meat allowed the antibiotics on these products to destroy your gut microbiome. After I quit all meat and dairy, and switched to fish, not free-range (which is a lie) but farm-raised eggs from small farmers I know, plus eating lots of organic (as much as possible) veggies, my gut microbiome got restored and all my 20+ allergies have disappeared. I've been allergy free for almost 8 years, and before that I suffered with debilitating allergies for 5 years taking vaccines and different meds that didn't work at all. Good luck!

@@Monas99 thank you for your comment It’s been two years and I haven’t had any allergy even though I went back to eating sugar/gluten in moderate amounts. But you’re right, I do feel like that I might be somewhat sensitive to gluten. I just never knew that the antibiotics given to animals ends up messing our gut! I always hear that antibiotics are bad when given to animals but it never registered in my mind until now that it’s because it’ll mess our microbiome.

@@XXxxGOOOFYxxXX your most welcome. The way to test out if you're allergic/ sensitive to gluten, just go on binge on pasta, breads, cookies, and pastry for a couple of days, and if you feel worse, then you' ll get the confirmation. When I eat too much glutten, I experience allergy like symptoms- runny nose and eyes, sneezing, i cant function or focus on work, I feel horrible. Nowadays I only eat pastry, pizza or pasta on occasions- once or twice a month or so. Regarding the antibiotics, yes, they kill both - the good and bad bacteria from your gut, which destroys your immune system which consequently makes you more vulnerable to all kind of health problems and auto immune diseases, most of which are incurable. For me, the taste of steak or cheese from industrialized/ corporate farms are not worth that much risk, I'm happy with wild caught fish and eggs from farm raised chickens from local farmers, plus nuts and seeds for my protein needs. ( I don't buy free- range eggs from grocery stores- that's just BS marketing, there is no such thing). Just look into the "blue zones diet"- it's the best for me! It helped me cure both- all my 20+ allergies and my thyroid problem (both incurable according to my doctors), and I never felt healthier and more energetic as I've been on this diet (no gluten, no sugars, no meat, and no dairy) with the exception of either a slice of pizza, pasta or some pastry once or twice a month.

You are 100% correct. When I can stay on meat and veggies with a random "cheat day", I feel so good. But, I had surgery a few months ago and I certainly slipped off of my diet. I quickly gained 25 pounds and have inflammation in my legs. It is amazing what effect you diet can have. Back on my diet and back in the gym .... that's the answer for me.

I used to do strict keto and it was great, but just a little annoying. I think the key is to try your best to avoid carbs and definitely sugar, and you'll be better off for it. I find that if I avoid carbs as much as possible, it doesn't matter when I do end up eating carbs.

ill do lots of plants in my diet with healthy potions of lean meats and protein, coconut oil, peanut butter, avocados.. after a few weeks of trying this diet out, my Friends at the gym thought I was juicing because i was getting vascular and losing body fat rapidly lmao, when in reality no drugs were involved my body was simply responding better to this kinda diet vs a conventional diet. I think keto and many low carb diets can certainly help a vast amount of people. Again its not the same for everyone but for me it works.

There are 3 types of Carbs, Sugar, Starch, and Fiber. Sugar is a simple Carb, it is easily digested, that’s why you get a Sugar High whenever you eat something sweet. Starch and Fiber are Complex Carb, they take longer to digest. Eating naturally occurring Carbs over processed Carbs is the best way to get your daily Macros.
