I've been on the carnivore diet for 2 months. My results have been more energy, sharper mind, no more body pain, and I've lost 50 lbs. I was "obese", I'm now just "over weight". Another month or two, I'll be in the best shape of my life. Amazing how this works.

I had my bloodwork done before and after starting Keto. Can't remember exact numbers but I do know my A1C went from 7.5 to 5.3 in 6 months and all my other markers did not change. I have and always have had low cholesterol which my doctor is concerned about it actually being too low. Keto didn't move the cholesterol at all. I was hoping it would go up but it didn't.

Got my neighbor on it who’s been on statins since his mid 20’s (he’s 54) He lost 40 lbs and isn’t taking statins anymore. As far as I’m concerned there’s no argument to be had at this point. I credit keto with saving my life, literally. I have a severely damaged liver due to an auto-immune disorder. Sugar and wheat and high carbs in general were overloading my liver to the point where I knew I was going to have to change something or I would probably be dead within another month or two. I started googling stuff and decided to try keto. I fasted for 5 days to get the carbs out of my system and get into a ketogenic state and then completely eliminated all high sugar foods and all grain products with the exception of oats in small quantities, and all processed "foods." The improvement was immediate. I had been getting severe cramping and would periodically go into a state almost like a seizure with uncontrollable shaking that would leave me with huge bruises on my extremities. My doctor had told me to limit my salt intake to control a water retention problem. I INCREASED my salt intake to a rather high level and started taking a magnesium supplement several times a day at a rate several times what is recommended. My cramps, seizures, and restless legs syndrome went away. My ascites problem also improved by about 90 percent. Evidently a damaged liver has a hard time extracting enough sodium and magnesium from food causing a chronic deficiency. I had a constant case of heartburn and intestinal cramping. My doctor recommended adding creamer to my coffee to "coat my stomach walls." I went from uncomfortable to severely painful digestive problems. Turns out that non dairy creamers contain emulsifiers to keep the vegetable oils they are made of in solution in the coffee. IOW, they contain soap. They were washing the coating from my stomach walls causing leaky gut problems. Real cream is OK, non dairy creamers are poison. My stomach problems and heartburn almost totally went away when I eliminated them from my diet. My advice for anyone with chronic illness is to see a dietary specialist. I realize I will never again be able to run a sub 18 minute 3 miler, or put in an 18 hour shift swinging a pulaski or chainsaw cutting a fireline on a wildland fire, or climb a 14 thousand foot mountain, but I'm a hell of a lot better than I was a year ago.

Keto/low carb diets are naturally diuretic. The muscle cramping was due to electrolyte imbalance. You were correct in increasing your sodium and magnesium. On average you should take in 3000-5000 mg of sodium when on this type of diet. Athlete's should up there sodium intake to about 7000 mg per day.

Progression went like this. Vegan for 10 years, age 20-30, got skinnier and weaker, skin was dry, allergies awful, joints painful. Added salmon and eggs, felt better. Then paleo for years, felt pretty good. Then high fat paleo, even better. Then added IF and improved even more. And now six months into carnivore diet. At 51 yrs old I’m lean and strong. Great energy and mental clarity. Blood work is great. CRP very, very low. That’s my story.

It’s a common misconception in regards to fruits and vegetables that organic means no pesticides are used. Essentially everything in the produce section no matter where you shop has been sprayed with something. The fact is there is just no other way for modern farming to occur and produce the needed amount of food without pest control of some kind. Essentially what a farmer who is good at their job does is create the perfect conditions for a particular crop’s pest(s) to thrive. Then they have the often difficult task of eradicating, eliminating, or preventing the attracted pest so they can actually make a living off of what they’ve worked so hard to grow. There are all types of ways to eliminate the pests and some ways are far better than others, for sure. A bad way is to spray toxic chemicals to kill the pests that make humans and the environment sick. For the most part those methods are not allowed anymore whether the food is organic or not. Another way pests are sometimes controlled is by applying specific compounds that interrupt the pests life cycle before it gets out of control and destroys the crop. For example, this might be done by applying pheromones to a field that confuses the pests during mating time and therefore reducing the number of offspring. Where organic comes into play is whether the compound used meets certain (sometimes arbitrary) standards according to the powers that decide what’s organic and what is not. Let’s say you can make a compound two different ways, both are equally effective at treating the above example. One way has a synthetic ingredient that is not harmful to humans or the environment but that ingredient can also be derived from a “natural” source at a higher cost. The latter would be deemed organic and the former would not. So the farmer pays a little more for the “organic” compound so they can call their food organic and charge you the consumer significantly more for that food even though in reality it is not different from the non-organic type. Make no mistake about it. Organic farmers are laughing all the way to the bank. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be regulation to keep farmers in check. Not at all. I just think people should know that “organic” is a buzzword and it usually does not mean what they think it means. Everything gets sprayed. Everything.
@Egoblivion
@Egoblivion 6 жыл бұрын
Jenn Rossotti Wow, so much correct-sounding info but wrong. I worked at a hydroponic farm. The boss' labels said "organic" because, well...the process was organic as she didn't have to spray PESTICIDES. The crops were in a greenhouse, which is a good pest control mechanism. Also, my father was a crop-dust pilot and when there was wind-drift of the chemicals onto nearby organic farms, there was significant damage, in terms of disruption of the organic farm's process. Also, I studied horticulture. Organic production costs more either because of higher labor intensity and/or smarts and tricks like the one you mentioned. I agree that some "organic" labels might have been paid for, but it usually means that there was a big difference in chemical use. "Natural" refers to post-harvest, like was a ripener accelerator used...

Goo Gull a lot of healthy marketed foods are rip offs. Nothing wrong with a diet of meat, cheese, bread, eggs, nuts, beans, fruit and veggies all in moderation. Problem is half of America wants the easy way, eats loads of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s snacks, gets salads packed with cheese, ranch, bacon, drinks “organic” drinks and snacks that are loaded with fruit juice that will equal eating like 10 oranges and 30 kiwis, and eats “gluten free” food that lack basic micro nutrients, foods that are over-portioned and dense in calories, and then eat friggin McDonald’s on the weekends and wonders why they aren’t loosing weight. The healthy food industry is a scam because no one knows shit about dieting and Whole Foods is just one of the perpetrators

The key is eating the same thing every day which has all of the nutrients you need. I don't care what the diet is, once you start eating the same thing every day and it meets your nutrition requirements, you will start feeling better. Once you start eating whatever you feel like, or whatever happens to be served to you, you throw off the equilibrium your body has adapted to. The key is to pick a diet and stick with it, then incrementally add or subtract things as needed. That said, I follow The Viking Diet. I start my day at 6 am by dissolving the following into 2 one liter bottles: orange flavored husk fiber, Tang, a calcium magnesium tablet, a caffiene tablet, half of a multivitamin, half a multi mineral, 1 gram ALCAR, half a gingko bilboa capsule, and half of a probiotic. I eat a can of spam while sipping one at about 7 and keep sipping it till about 10. At 10:30 or so I eat another can of spam while sipping my second orange drink, and finish off that drink by noon. At this point I rinse out my bottles and refill them with water. After noon I eat nothing but bananas, and I drink the two liters of water throught the evening. This comes to about 2400 calories, lots of protien, all of the basic vitamins of minerals, lots of fiber, and a good amount of friendly bacteria. This comment has been a work of fiction, I have never tried the Viking Diet but if you try it and it works, drop a comment below.

This diet seems to have cured my dermatitis and psoriasis, conditions I have had for 8+ years which saw minimal benefit from various steroids, specialized moisturizers and an exclusion diet. I have tried everything you can imagine too fix these problems but only the carnivore diet has worked and I've only been on it for a few months. The skin on my feet looks normal now, although there are some shiny patches but my doctor has told me this is because of scar tissue as years of inflammation, bleeding, cracking and peeling has damaged the skin. Right now the skin is entirely healed (by healed I mean no cracking, peeling etc) and as this has not happened within 8 years I can only put it down to the diet and not the placebo effect. Indeed if the placebo effect were a factor then I would expect to see similar results from the strict exclusion diet they put me on.

@@sillybilly7467 As a follow up to my original comment I must say I decided to slowly come off the meat only diet and introduce eggs, fish, vegetables and some fruit. I did this little by little over a few months and it was fine for a good 6 months. I then started to notice some slight dryness on my hands so I used a moisturiser but it got progressively worse and the cracking started again. I returned to the diet and three months later it cleared up. Since then I have decided to have fish and eggs maybe twice a week and found this doesn't cause me any issues (so far). I'm having vegetables once a week in small quantities and I'm sticking to a few different ones which don't seem to be causing any problems (again this is an ongoing test). My skin is completely healed up, the thicker patches from years of cracking and healing have started to thin out and become more supple. Even the skin on my knuckles which was very shiny and always looked red due to so much damage is starting to match the colour of the surrounding skin and becoming more matt in it's appearance. So yeah I'm definitely sticking with the diet :)

Omega 3/6 ration is the reason to eat grass feed. High omega 6 is shown to increase inflammation, so with auto immune diseases it can be bad. Due to all the plant based food US have, 20 times more omega 6 is now common, where you really want to be as close to 1:1. Organic meat just means that the feed is organic grown, doesnt mean its good. And yeah corn feed might taste better due to more fat, but doesnt mean its better for health.

Decades ago, I found the same as far as eating meat for any length of time so as to get to a healthy weight - Within about four days I got sick of meats eggs etc. Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing as it allows for a lot of healthy low good carbs. After Dr Atkins death, his foundation which was run by his wife changed the carb guidelines at allow for about 60 grams/day. I tried this a few years ago and after 5 weeks to the day, i lost 32 pounds of blubber. I am a firm believer that excess carbs is the real culprit of many disease processes. At one time most folks could use a lot of carbs and stay healthy as folks typically worked very hard and would burn them as fuel easily and avoid health issues. Watched this again 1 year later. Someone at that table overcame a lifetime of indoctrination having to eat your fruits and vegetables. That seems to be something of a constant in the carnivore world: most people don't just jump in, they gather information first, let it sink in and only take the step when they feel like they are totally prepared. For me, this conversation with the Bell brothers was more or less the deciding thing that lead me to go carnivore myself. Only, it took me until August '19 before I actually made the switch. Despite all the information and testimonials out there, I still had this voice in my head, telling me that I was going to die if I ate like that. Glad I overcame the indoctrination, and I wish the same for everyone considering the carnivore lifestyle. It truly is a life changer.

I've eaten carnivore for 2.5 years. I am 73 and feel better than I have in twenty years. No vegetables, no fruit, no problems. In fact I have eliminated three blood pressure medications that still could not hold down spikes that would cause me to be ambulance from work, and from home to the hospital. I also have little pain from my arthritic problems... And I'm healing from a hideous accident that broke my tibia my wrist and my ankle. Those were all plated and screwed. My surgeon said my wrist looked like a 2000 piece puzzle and that I would always have arthritic pain from the injury. I have very little... I also was walking my dog when I was hit by a car and ended up under the car. I'm in love with this diet 😁. Including vegetables in my diet would only dilute the bioavailability of the nutrients I get from meat IMO. There is no essential need for carbohydrates! And I think all of us carnivores have proved that there's no essential need for fiber either. I make sure that I have at least two meats usually to avoid fatigue from my diet. This morning I had cubed air fried pork belly with four eggs. My dinner is usually steak and sometimes fish with it or shrimp. There is a lot of critters that you can eat and absolutely no reason for you to feel limited.

To be certified organic, you do pay a fee, every time you get recertified or certified to begin with. You take a Soil sample of each field and send it off to your state's soil/agriculture department for testing. If there are ANY traces of chemicals NOT on the USDA approved list, then you can't retest for 3 years. Source: my agriculture degree from MTSU (Tennessee). Our Ag department's research farm won't go USDA Organic due to the fee and the restrictions (i.e. once you're "organic", you can ONLY use pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers they have on their approved list. Use of ANYTHING not on that list will show for around 3 years on a soil test and would cause you to lose your certification).

@@melissabrock4114 "You sound a bit misinformed, are you asserting that all humans during the Pleistocene subsided on more meat than plants? Read what I wrote, I said they "didn't eat a lot of vegetation, because there wasn't a lot around." But yes I am asserting that. I never said "all humans". Of course there were those who lived in warmer climates, along the equator, or near coastlines, or not effected by glacial sheets. But that doesn't prove they ate more meat or vegetation. You're talking about a very long time period. Where a lot of humans learned to survive in permafrost/glacial biomes. Vegetation was scarce in huge parts of the globe covered in ice, so animal meat and fat was the way those who lived in these climates stayed satiated. This has been proven and some human groups(i.e. Eskimos, Inuits, and Siberian cultures) still live this way. "Are you aware that not all parts of the planet were experiencing the same changes at the same time?" I never said they were, again you're talking about a period that lasted 2.5 million years. That's a huge generalization. I'm just talking about the last 10-20k, that shows our brains shrinking and how mass cropping is correlated. "and that archeological evidence strongly indicates peoples from this era subsided on more plants than animal protein?" Not from the evidence I've seen. Vegetation was seasonal, and not cultivated. Meaning that it was gathered and not farmed. The demand for a higher caloric diet from plants didn't come until cultivation communities sprung up within the last 20k years. Before then, we were hunter gatherers, only eating vegetation seasonally. Some groups of early humans ate almost no vegetation there entire lives. If you think I'm misinformed, or if you have evidence to prove otherwise, I'd like to see it. But just be aware, that archeological research into dietary isotopes found in early human teeth, still cannot tell the difference as to whether they were herbivores, or carnivores eating animals who were herbivores. Meaning that the archeological evidence you speak of could be made to look like we were eating plant based diets. When in fact, early humans are related to other primates who are in fact omnivores. So the question then becomes, what made us evolve more and our brains grow faster than these other primates? Why didn't they evolve like we have in the last 3.5 million years?

Plants are neutral, what has been shown is that many of the micronutrients that come from plants are only needed in the quantities recommended in order to digest and deal with the oxidative stress , plant toxins, digestive processes and inflammation that eating plants brings. So when you are eating only meat, then your need for many of those nutrients drops as well. Vitamin C for instance is needed mostly when you are eating alot of plant and carb, and antioxidants are only more necessary to deal with the inflammation carbs and plants brings. The fiber needed to help with and ferment plant matter is only needed to digest plant matter. So the benefits these micronutrients provide are largely only in dealing with the issues plants in the diet cause.

I just want to leave this here, in case people get physical problems because of their diets. I'm not here to debate anyone. Just remember what i typed and do with it whatever you want. If you feel fine with your current diet, then you don't have a reason to change it. But I advice you, never to throw this information out of the window: Foods we should consume from best to worst: 1. Organic animal fat. Fat from meat and milk (raw butter) is our number one energy source. There is a reason for why we have fat reserves for in case of scarcity. 2. Raw eggs, raw fish, raw meats (keep in mind that they are tasteless, but in the wild they would've been marinated with blood, which is very tasty), raw organs (especially liver, which is a nutrient power bomb) Raw milk (not pasteurized store garbage) and grinded or 4 days slowcooked bones (yes we can digest them cooked or raw). With this diet you will get EVERY nutrient you need. 3. Cooked meats, cooked fish, cooked eggs and cooked organs 4. Fruits. It's not needed if you have meat to eat. It's purpose is hydration and for us to gain weight, which is hard on a pure animal diet. In nature you would basically eat fruits in the summer, so body fat can be stored to help you go through the winter when animal food will be scarce. Hence why we are so fat in the west. People keep stuffing themselves with carbs and sugar. 5. Pizza, cookies, Snickers and all other garbage (only reason I place it above veggies is because of the animal products) 6. - 7. - 8. - 9. Animal shit 10. Veggies (nasty, fiber is indigestible and all are genetically modified to make them more palatable to us. In nature you wouldn't dare to put this shit in your mouth), legumes grains and nuts 11. Plants and rocks Yes we are carnivorous. The only way for humans to develop complex brains, was to go from a herbivorous diet to a carnivorous one. Just look at how much plants a gorilla must eat daily just to grow and stay alive, let alone develop a more complex brain. And that's when they can digest it, unlike us humans. If you consume fiber, you will shit as much as you consumed. Eat a whole cereal box to know what I mean (and people think, shitting a ton is actually healthy...). Again I'm not trying to convert anyone (I'm not a vegan), because I really couldn't care less what strangers are eating. If everyone would eat like me, the prices of organic meat would skyrocket and that would not work in my favor. But I still want enough people to know about this, so the human race doesn't completely degenerate physically, because of vegans and people who eat like thrash daily.

The issue here is that some people have issues with anti nutrients and plants have those to protect themselves from us. That’s why people have auto immune issues and eating only meat fix those issues

Anti nutrients are removed by cooking the food, it is not something you generally need to worry about. From Wiki: "Many traditional methods of food preparation such as fermentation, cooking, and malting increase the nutritive quality of plant foods through reducing certain antinutrients such as phytic acid, polyphenols, and oxalic acid." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antinutrient

Yes, you do have to pay for the organic certification. There are certifying bodies that handle the process according to NOP standards. You usually have to add their logo AND the USDA stamp to your packaging in order to be compliant. No, organic does not just mean no pesticides for plants. It means no SYSTEMIC pesticides. Pesticides are still used in organic farming.

@@imnotsmartbutimdumb I had IBD and Ulcer colitis. I used Metamucil for 1 month everyday to stop bleeding, then began eating chicken, pork, beef, eggs and low amount of raw dairy products. I eliminated nuts, sugar, caffeine and alcohol. I added veggies but only fermented ones and legumes that has been 48 hr soaked and pressured cooked. I drank boiled ginger and clove after every meals. I did intermediate fasting eating only between 12-8pm. CBD tinctures helped eliminate a constant feeling of having to use the washroom. Any other questions feel free to to ask. Don't spread hate.

Just as in Robert Lustig's "Sugar: The Bitter Truth," when you're an elite athlete, fructose can help you restore your glycogen faster. But in that case, you're not insulin-resistant, so a little fructose here and there won't hurt you.

After researching Carnivore diets and being on it for just a month, the changes are obvious even this early. After my change of intestinal floura (and the brief diarrhea) my body feels great, 10 lb weight loss and the fog is gone. I still eat low carb veggies and my sweet tooth gets a piece of healthy fruit with the max micro nutrients. I maintain my food pyramid at 90% of my calories are fat and protein and 10% carbs from fruit and veggies. These Corporations and our Govt are lying to us about nutrition and keeping us fat, foggy and disease/allergy ridden at the BEHEST OF BIG PHARMA, BIG FOOD, MEDICAL, WEIGHT LOSS COMPANIES, TEXTILES, FOOTWEAR, GYMS, HOME GYMS, FAT PANTS, FAST FOOD. We get healthy THEY go out of business or take a huge financial hit. Besides, a "sick" society is so much easier to control and don't clog up Medicare roles for long. Our GOVT IS KILLING US.

For Organic Certification in beef, they must be fed organic feed or grass it’s entire life. It’ll it is grass fed, it must be on plaster a specific amount of time. Both the grass and soil have to glue tested and certified as well.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a protein that increases in the blood with inflammation and infection as well as following a heart attack, surgery, or trauma. ... The hs-CRP test accurately measures low levels of CRP to identify low but persistent levels of inflammation and thus helps predict a person's risk of developing CVD.
