@@kishorenaag That’s right. And if I’m not mistaken, I think that there was an 186 against Sri Lanka, along with the two doubles that you mentioned. I’m not sure he’ll beat Tendulkar’s record though; he would need another 45-50 Tests, or about 80 to 90 innings (bearing in mind it’s unlikely that he would bat twice in every Test, what with rain and possible innings victories and retired hurts etc). That’s about three and a half to four years, without injury or loss of form, he being four months shy of his 34th birthday … it’s possible… but a big ask. It would be akin to one of the twelve labours of Hercules, were he to do it!

He will probably not reach Tendulkar's runs record (another 3,658 runs may be too many) but he may finish with the most scores over 50 (Root needs 23 more to get past Tendulkar). To do so, at his present rate of scoring he would have to play 43 more tests and that will require four more years of tests injury free, as well as not having a slump in form. The little master didn't score a century in his last 23 tests (40 innings) and only three half centuries in his last 22 innings. A lot of people predicted that Tiger Woods would break Jack Nicklaus' record of golf majors and for various reasons, particularly injury, he didn't manage it.

But again it was such a treat to watch in 2022 when he played it each time with perfection.
