When a truck slammed into Joe Damon's car in 2006, the 48-year old husband, father, businessman and athlete suffered a devastating brain injury that left him in a coma for five weeks. "Joe's Journey" tells the story of everything that was lost that day, but more importantly, of all that survived. Through powerful and deeply personal encounters with Joe, his wife, children and close friends, this film reveals the strength in their struggles, the sweetness alongside the shadows, and the quiet heroism of one family living a difficult reality with an extraordinary measure of grace.

Joe is a wonderful man. I have a brain injury too. On this pandemic lockdown Easter I went to the hospital with appendicitis and had it removed the following Monday morning. I learned that an older person getting aenesthesia for an operation can have long term brain damage. Just what I needed... another brain injury. Oh well... like Joe...I’ll make the best of it. I hope you’re doing well Joe! Thanks for your story! 🙏

This is my story, well I would be Paul..:). When I was 20 my Dad was in a motorcycle accident and he was in a coma for about the same time.. Going through all the stages were tough. listening to him tell me about his son that he loved and missed, because he didn't recognize me for the first 6 months, was really hard. Now we are 3 years into this new journey and it's still 2 steps forward, 1 step back. We are forever great full we got this second chance with Dad. Thank you so much!! Sean Lail

Joe your video is amazing! You,Lynn.Paul and Kattie are an inspiration Thirty years ago we thought you were a great guy, sharing your zest for life. Now you've really shown us how strong of a person you are .This exceeds any ones ability to run a Marathon or do an Iron Man. That was just preparing you for this. We love you Joe and are here for you!!! .

it seems like he lost the bad side of human brain... and he is like an angel in earth.. just look at his face at 8:42 he is so calm so virtuous at all, like he was never like the most of us are... when I look at his face I am feeling such a bastard and I always say to myself I'll be a better man tommorow...

mother of sTBI survivor. This is such a familiar story. it is a strange thing but it is good to see joe sad about his past. early on when jacob was coming out of his coma he cried, but now he seems content. he was a firefighter and hard worker at anything he tried. he is still a hard worker in therapy. we are out doing the old things as before also. biking, riding rivers, camping, and thanful for each day.
