Musical instruments are sacred objects to me and this beautiful documentary shows why. Joe's violin is received by this deserving student as a heart transplant would be received by a patient in need. Joe's humility makes his gift all the more special. He realizes through the music that the girl plays for him how magnificent is his gift of his violin.

This documentary is so inspiring! I had the pleasure to meet the principal of the school today, and I truly feel blessed to be spending time with this amazing woman! I played a violin at the age of nine, and I loved it. This story truly touched me and reminds me that we all have challenges in our lives, but to be able to survive with the hope and grace of God is really a gift that we need to embrace and cherish. Thank you Joe for sharing your story, and for giving your prized possession to this wonderful school.

this is very touching. such an important story on so many SOCIAL levels. a HUGE statement AGAINST the CHRISTO-FASCISM taking over the ussa. one of the moments that stood out (after having trained at juilliard and having been a public school educator 12 years) seeing the girls on the playground discussing, excitedly, A VIOLIN. that was AMAZING.

Great story and a deserving winner. It is a shame, however, that violin lessons are still being taught with finger-tape and adhesive stickers. There is no reason to put tape on a beautiful instrument; it is much different than training wheels on a bike, though many make the comparison. Students who are not taught to train their ears and fingers to find the correct tone will fall back on this crutch. Just a little constructive criticism from a student who saw peers become dissuaded from playing and dropping the instrument altogether.
