Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and some of his former students have achieved fame such as Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan and Alex Skolnick. Satriani has been a driving force in music credited to other musicians throughout his career, as a founder of the G3 tour, as well as performing in various positions with other musicians.

Don't be discouraged. Just takes practice, like anything else. It sounds more difficult than it really is. It took me the better part of an evening to learn it and about 3 or 4 days to get it down where I was happy with it and the rest of week to burn it in my mind and fingers till it was easy. And that was all by ear when I was in 9th grade so 14 or so. I'm 30 now and have been teaching professionally since I was in middleschool. The trick is to have your technique higher than whatever tunes or pieces you want to learn. I mean you still obviously want to challenge yourself but within your reach. If you can't play So What at 70bpm you're certainly not going to be able to play Cherokee at 320bpm. Another piece of advice when you get a tune up to tempo don't stop there, keep going cause you don't want it to be a challenge to get through it, you want it to be effortless. I suggest practicing classical etudes for piano and or flute to get your technique together so it just won't be an issue anymore as well as a really good eartraining routine and after that learning any piece of music will be a walk in the park my friend. Cheers and good luck!

My only comment is. You can't be satch, you have to be yourself. People at this level never think about copying songs of other people. They write their own songs for their own strengths. It seems to be a subtle thing, but is not. It is huge and they live in a different paradigm than imitators. It is a completely different school of thought. It is creation, not duplication. It actually sets you free to be yourself. Some people never break out of that. Most people never break out of that because it takes a lot of courage and risk.
