Thanks Joe, made me pick up my guitar after some long needed inspiration. I'm getting it pretty quick now, the more I practice it the better I get at it. Speed will come later. Awesome lesson. I'm mostly a rhythm player and love your rhythm variations. Thanks again.

love it when he's playing the rhythm section and he's like "OH YEAH!!" what a legend! just goes to show that even a virtuoso like himself still has fun rocking out to some heavy blues riffs!

I take from this, inspiration and encouragement to find my own sound that vibrates with my soul. Love it, learn from it, maybe now your fingers can do it? If not we should keep practicing? Yes? Yes! Yea, let's do that..

Here in 2020, if I just decided to learn Satch Boogie, I can take 10 seconds to type words into a search engine. There's Joe Satriani to teach me his song. Kind of amazing right
@susancorgi9 жыл бұрын
He makes it look soooo easy but it's not. Many people play this in the wrong fucking rhythm of 16th. This is 16th shuffle, you have to make it bounce like shuffle.

I met Joe once and the guy is just like a fellow musician that you would start talking with like you knew one another for years his manger had too break us up lol we were like having a really good conversation almost forgot to get an autograph lol my Son reminded me I had joe write me an excuse for work on one of his placards i.e.bill he laugh said he never heard that ever a really great guy.very cool dude.

Every guitarist SHOULD be able to take their signature riffs and fuck with them in any manner they please, science of scales joe has probably learned a shitton of scales, allowing him to know what notes are hittable after others, just cuz he chose certain notes for the recording doesnt mean he didnt have 70 different versions ready in case the current one didnt satisfy at the time. It just means hes reached a very necessary level thats needed to write songs

i remember when this song's tabs were in guitar for practicing musician and they were so wrong ( i think Andy Aledort transcribed it but he was a hendrix guy) . i couldn't figure out why it didn't sound like the album after practicing it for hours. then i saw joe play it and learned it correctly. eventually got the surfing songbook which had accurate tabs
@FatLadyKiller10 ай бұрын
You’re right man. When it came to Hendrix Aledort was your man. I bought the Hendrix Signature Licks tab book with the CD and he taught me many Jimi songs the right way but he didn’t do Dimebag justice. His transcription of Cemetery Gates was completely off he hits a completely wrong chord In the main turnaround every time

What is he doing at the end to get that harmonic? Is he hitting the string beyond the fretboard or something?
@11jkhw9 жыл бұрын
He's doing a pinch harmonic while holding down the whammy. When he lifts the bar that will be the effect!

He looks like the father of that kid in The Matrix talking to a student... “Do not try and bend the string, that's impossible.
