I Love The Mescaleros, and met them, along with Joe in West Hartford CT USA within a year before he passed. It was a really, really good show, and I hold it close, particularly because I met my main man, personally. He didn't disappoint, and asked me as many questions as I asked him. It was so blissful, thanks Joe, and I know you are chilling in peace! I just know it. Anyway, I saw The Clash twice, live. Once at a college in NY State, Vassar Coolege. I then saw them a year later in a large bar/nightclub in West Hartford, Ct. Both shows were off the dial, for me and my close buds said the same. I never experienced more energy per square foot around me than those two shows, especially in the bar/nightclub, and that includes seeing The Who live twice. I mention them because they produced the second amount of sheer energy that I ever felt at a rock show. Had Joe had his original Clash brothers here, this tape would be off the charts. I'm sorry, I love my Mecaleros, but The Clash is unbeatable! And Joe was the greatest frontman in my eyes. My favorite band ever and ever!!! BTW Thanks ScottishTeeVee.

Thanks for watching and sharing the memories. You were lucky to have met Joe and I am pleased to read that he did not disappoint.

Thanks, mate. I don't usually share this story, but once in a great while I do. After Joe passed, I wrote pretty much the whole story somewhere, and some of my good buds saw it. The wild part of what I told him was that I had this great job working for a company that made jet engines. I made a lot of money for being so young because I was very fortunate and lucky, as well as very good with wrenches and machines. When I heard the song Clampdown ("The men at the factory are old and cunning, you don't owe nothin' so boy get run-in'...."), decided to quit and go back to college. I took up creative writing and had some success. I told Joe all this and more, and then I told him that he probably heard that story many, many times. He smiled and laughed, and said "No David, I never heard it quite as well as your version, thanks. It means a lot to me." The reason why I shared this and that with you is because this video is a gem and I got great vibes from you. And if I ever get back to the UK I'll have to look you up. Cheers, and thanks again, mate!

Aug 21, 2019 ... Joe would have been 67 years old...Dear Joe,thank you for the wonderful years you gave us. Rock has never been the same without you! We love you and miss you so much...You are sadly missed. We never forget you...Never! Gone, but not forgotten. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND REST IN PEACE, PUNK WARLORD! And... Dear Andy! I was so shocked to hear of the death of Your Beloved Dad. Do please accept my condolences in your great loss. I know there is nothing to say to lessen your grief. But still, if there is anything at all that I can do to help, I do hope that you will ask me. I know what you feel...I feel for you deeply...I also love My Late Dad so much who stays No.1. in my life and here with me everyday. May Your Dad Rest In Peace! I'm glad that you and your kids had a beautiful holiday in Italy with your sister...you deserved. I just can't stop thinking of you, because I like you so much. We are very different and sometimes I loose my patience to waiting for you...because I'm waiting for you,I can't get you out of my head,I tried,I tried, didn't work...you are too slow to me and I want to know you closely, baby. And my life is very sad and depressed without you. The differences made me very desperate,I don't understand you, your signs mix me up badly...I don't understand clearly what you want...what do you want? Sometimes you irritate me,but I like who you are. Yes, I wanted that you say beautiful compliments to me,because my lack of self-confidence. I like you and your kids. I don't want other guy, only you. And you don't talk with me,keep the silence and this makes the things between us much worse...because I don't understand you, what you want. I deserve that I know what do you want...I terribly suffer. Please dignify me that you say the truth...the clear, but painful truth is much better than this obscurity. I hope you understand my feelings. You are unreachable and remote to me...cold as ice. I know that I hurt you when you added me as family member and I cancelled...but you didn't talk with me at that time as now...didn't communicate with me and I felt that you want only bragging with me and play with me... because you are a confident, intelligent, but cunning guy who cover up his feelings and I have a bad feeling that you observe me behind my back and you aren't straight like me, you fear,i'm sorry that I hurt you in the past when I didn't see The Man inside you,"only" a friend/fanmate. Please don't punish me with the past that you don't forget my faults. Your keep the distance and this is sometimes unbearable to me,because I like you and I feel you are my soulmate what I soke. The life can be much more than the work, football, politics and Nintendo...and I like your kids. I'm here as your friend, don't feel that I want to pressure you...but I terribly suffer. Please try to decide what you want from me, because I want to leave the FB in December forever and must to know what you feel...4 months,if you decide earlier, tell me... Don't play games,I deserve better than you play with me... In my life: no colours, black or white. I'm this type: 100% cold or 100% hot. But I hate this lukewarm stagnant water. What do you want? Be straight with me. I respect your decision: friends or more. I know very well that you read this. Don't fear,I won't eat you and accept your answer. If you say no,that is much better to me,than you don't say anything. Really painful that you don't say anything,I don't want to live in illusions,I want to know what is The Truth. You hurt me badly with this mistrustful silence what destroy me. I know that you like me,only as friend,or...I need to know. Please! Yours truly, Ági

It's currently 01:51 and I was going to go to bed then I clicked on this and that went out of the window. I'm in my late 20s now and so wasn't alive for The Clash or too young to fully appreciate the subsequent years however my mum ensured my education was complete. It's a shame he was taken from this world too soon but I'm glad videos like this still exist. One of the most important figures in British, nay all musical history.

I was lucky enough to be somewhere down the front at this set. If I knew then what I know now and truly understood what a legend I was watching I would have paid so much more attention to the moment I was in. I look back now and although I never saw the Clash, I did see Joe Strummer sing Clash songs and that’s pretty awesome. So great to get this chance to watch it again all these years later. Thank you!

That festivals being taken away comment is due to the cracking down on raves and techno festivals around that time, which Joe loved. Raves were being demonized because of rampant drug use and incidents of people being hurt.
