Just want it to be known that he explained why he doesn't want to join a contender, he feels like the ring wont mean as much if he is riding someones else's coattails, he wants to be part of the team from the beginning and be a part of it as they grown into a contender. He feels like there is no reason the browns cant win a superbowl and he feels it would mean so much more
@pp3k3jamail7 жыл бұрын
Scott Barker How would he ride somebody else's coattails when he's would be the starting tackle on that team. Riding someone coattails if you go to a team and you really don't contribute and that team wins the Superbowl then you didn't really earn that ring. if Joe Thomas goes to Pittsburgh if Joe Thomas goes to New England if Joe Thomas goes to Green Bay and Joe Thomas goes to Philadelphia or any other team that's a super bowl-caliber team he will be the starting tackle or starting somewhere on that offensive line. So he wouldn't be riding somebody else's coattail he will be a major contributor. Also his statement if it's true sounds dumb because there's been plenty of great players who left other teams and went to other teams and won Super Bowls so you telling me Reggie White rode the coattails of Green Bay, because the Eagles wasn't really committed the winning and were letting key free aagents go. Then Reggie white went to Green Bay a place nobody thought could win a Superbowl and helped attract free agents there and eventually won a Superbowl there, you sound stupid.

Losing sucks but I imagine job security and routine appealed to him more. He didn’t have to uproot his family and didn’t have to compete for his job. He was the starting left tackle and he wasn’t going to another program to compete for that starting spot.

I may be wrong but he could have left. It was his choice to continue losing. He could have gone to New England on the cheap and had plenty of winning. Winning or money, I guess he took the money, I would have too.

If he was a late rounder or a undrafted guy, loyalty would make sense to me...he was the third overall pick, all 32 teams would have given him a chance...not hating on him, I just can't think of another modern day top shelf athlete that would stay on such a losing team that never had a shot, any season.

Joey Brickz No he's just a loser that doesn't care about winning, no NFL player will continue to stick with a franchise that's continuously changes coaches that continuously draft terrible in the draft. Barry Sanders retired because he felt the Lions wasn't really committed to winning and I remind you Barry Sanders had been to the playoffs 5 times with the Lions including the NFC Championship Game appearance in 91. If you watch Walter Payton A Football Life from 1975 to 1982 the Bears only had one winning season and Walter Payton was getting really upset and he said he was tired of it and was thinking about getting out of Chicago, because the organization wasn't helping him out. Troy Aikman On A Football Life said after the 2000 season a lot of people think he retired because of concussions Troy Aikman said he could have played another 3 years. Troy Aikman said the reason why he retired is he had build up enough credibility around the league and he didn't want that tarnished because of things that were out of his control meaning the Cowboys wasn't drafting good they went 5-11 in 2000, They promoted a special teams coach to head coach their draft picks wasn't that good and Troy was like I got to get out of here. Joe Thomas is just a loser, anybody who sticks with a franchise the Browns after all the head coaches that he's had all the different crap quarterbacks that he's had all of them bums and he continue to stay with that franchise. He's a loser he has his money he lives in a nice suburbs around Cleveland and he's just content on that.

Joe, come on man, there is not a lot of preparation in baseball? One of the hardest psycho motor skills in sports is to hit a baseball. So, a second baseman can become a great second baseman with no preparation at all. I like Joe, but he should have thought about that statement before he said it.
