Thank you Joe for your incredibly valuable lessons. I bought a 12 string universal at the tender age of 55, how hard could it be? {!). Monkeyed around forever with it, was going nowhere, wanted to shoot the damn thing except it sounded so beautiful when I got something right. Came across your 2006 at Scottys vid- bang, everything started to change in a hurry. A few years later I'm doing almost anything I want including "bakersfield" chickin pickin stuff, now getting into western swing- C6 for all you double-neckers! Absolutely the most helpful advice of all was developing right hand picking, I play naturally with 4 picks. I sat in front of the tv with an old 8 string lap steel and just played every "roll" I could every nite untill my fingers fell off. Now at 67 I play along with anything remotely country, fast or slow including some serious "shredding" on super fast stuff. What a thrill!, and now I'm looking to relocate to central Florida to find bands looking for a s##t-hot steel player, I just live for this stuff now! I wouldn't make it as a studio guy, but I'll make any country bar band more exciting than they ever were without steel! Living on so-sec, I'm hoping to earn extra money too doing what I love. Thank you Joe more than you can imagine, and for anyone reading this, no, I don't know him or have ever met him. And now, gettin back behind my steel...
