10 min in… “He’s supposed to play high, but then also be ready to hit a pulling guard in the mouth while backpedaling”I’m glad you corrected him…. We were raised in the 80s & 90s & taught that the game started upfront..But are now in the new 🏈 world where people coaches draw things up with a “back to front” as if the game did a complete 180… “It all starts upfront” still exists today, it’s just not as much of a physical thing, & more of a “Fit” thing.. You have to learn how to fit the run properly within your scheme & you will learn who your high safety can & will be, it will naturally play itself out…have those fits in place, build them into your calls.. The only way you can understand when & the high player can be .. Zone, power, counter, bucksweeps, etc..gotta draw & fit them all up..

The vast majority of high school and youth football is still about stopping the run. Bad teams don't stop the run well, good teams do. Great defenses stop the run and the pass.
