When he first said he expected the newer car to be a full second faster on that mini 300 yard track I laughed way too hard... A few tenths sure, a full second maybe on a track 5x larger.

He said that as the X5M comparison did show up a few second difference on the same exact track, with a similar old vs new model test. So such differences are indeed possible on this track.

0:15 that body line from front vent to the tail lights is the thing that makes the exterior of both F80 M3 and F82 M4 superior to the G80/G82. On the new one it looks like designers didn't know what they want to do with the body lines. On M3 it looks somewhat good but not as awesome as on F8x

Really wish BMW M would have left the Stunning F80/82 exterior alone and just updated the interior and Tuned the engine. The G series isn’t ugly but it’s not a masterpiece like the F80.

Don't get fooled. Almost every journalist hated the F82 when it came out. The new one being better doesn't fit the narrative of "they don't make them like they used to" applied to most manufacturers except Porsche, Honda and Toyota.

Hi Joe, another excellent video! As an F80 M3 owner, I looked at the specs of the G80 and saw minimal performance differences (probably due to the increased weight). This video has shown that the gearbox on the G80 is somewhat laggy as well. I still cannot get over 1) the ugly grille and 2) the broken hoffmeister kink on the new 3 series. As a 25 year BMW owner (3s, 5s, Ms, Zs and 7s over the years) this generation 3 series unfortunately brings bad memories of the Bangle 7 series (ugly then, ugly now). The F8X M cars have defined flanks, very flared wheel arches, the power dome and proper sized grilles. The marginal improvement in performance and the design of the G8X cars means there is little compelling reason to change to the new car.

Great video Joe! I have an F83 (convertible) and i love the way it looks. Had me wondering if i made the right choice when i bought it 14 months ago. This video was really eye opening for me. The new version looks great - but I think the older one looked better and the difference in performance is not enough of a difference to make me have buyers remorse!

Exactly what I was waiting to see. I have 2018 M4 competition with full MPE and in M performance spec including a DTM rear spoiler. Yes it's showing its age next to the newer M4 but all in all I'd rather stick with mine. Plus mine sounds amazing with the full titanium M performance exhaust! A must have.

I owned an E92 Comp for 5 years and a F82 for 3. Both brand new. While the F82 was an incredible car I will always remember the E92 as the best car I have ever owned. - the most significant difference was the steering. I never had the same confidence in the F82 like I did in the E92. - moving on and can’t wait for the G82.

The F82 looks so much better when it is next to G82. I had seen G80 and G82 in flesh and was never inpressed by the face. Could not keep my eyes on the grill for over 3 seconds or I would puke. Other than that, G80/82 is a big step forward.

Ive got a black M4 comp with red leather. 🔥. Just make sure to get the 'icon led' lights and the adaptive leds - this grey m4 looks great but doesnt have the icon's. IMO icon leds looks amazing and sharper and more modern and make the car look almost new. A chap came up to me in a petrol station a couple of days ago and said he has 2020 M4 too but my lights look so much striking. I explained that I have the icon led pack and he said his dealer told him he that. He didnt realise actually had the bmw adaptive led and felt ripped off after I showed him the light design on my car. He was gutted. For me it was a dealer break. You wont regret the f82, amazing and most colours look great anyhow. Snb was my first choice but I couldnt get red leather combi so went for black. No regrets! I still think they look better than the g82 but not seen new m4 yet

I've seen the new version of the m4 in person. Looks meaner, but it does not look as good as the old one. You need as dark as possible on the new one so you don't see the grill, the lighter colours make it look really bad. I'll take the old one any day!

As an f80 owner, I have had a go at the G82 and as you really push it hard, you do feel the weight, somewhat and I resonate with this perfomance over the f82, these results, sort of stabilize the price of the f82 and f80.... But the G, Ms lare great cars, save for the grill..

There is nothing better than an F82/F83 I test drive the G80 and it felt extremely soft, I Hate to say it but the G80 felt like more of a long distance cruiser and the F80 is a true M beast!!!!
