@@hfiguiere Viltrox's 33mm f/1.4 caught my interest, especially since it has a an STM motor. It's not WR either but maybe it'll nudge Fuji into updating.

Great video! I’m inspired to dust off my X100S and go for a walk. I am more inspired to place an order for an X100V but my wallet does not currently share that inspiration. I am also eternally jealous of people living in walkable, urban cities. Everyone in my city, Dallas, is in a car, and places you can just move through, on foot, full of life, are few and far between.
@joeallam4 жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah my wallet continues to say "no" to many things as well. I feel for you in a more spread out city. I have definitely struggled in some cities in the US precisely because of that. Even just seeing a shot across the road can be tricky when trying to navigate how to actually get across the road on foot!
@siggi4ever5554 жыл бұрын
Joe Allam I have big “photo walk” plans for my Sunday. In my situation, that means drive to a place, walk around the immediate area, drive to another place and repeat. All of these spots are separated by 8-lane freeways and “street life” is limited. Which is frustrating because Texas city’s have a lot to offer if you have the time to look for them. Oh well. I’m just going to assume all of these limitations make me more creative or something like that.

Some of my favourite photos from London are ones I took in and around the Bank Station area on Remembrance Day 2018 on the 100 year anniversary of the armistice. I got there in the morning and the area was completely closed off to cars. The combination of the light that day and how quiet it was led to some amazing photos. That same day, on a suggestion from one of your older videos, I went up the Monument to shot the city skyline during golden hour. Watching this latest video just brought me back to that memorable day wandering around London for the first time and feeling so inspired by everything I saw through my X-E3's viewfinder.

I sold my X100F and X-T2 and got an Xpro-3. I find the X-Pro 3 with the XF27mm is a similar experience to the X100F, even in weight and size. When I am worried about the elements I use my XF23mm f2 instead. So far I am happy with my choice but I most likely will be looking for a used X100V next year or so, I do find myself missing the X100F every now and then.

About that 35mm: getting the tele conversion lens for x100f was a revelation. Unlike SLRs, that can be changed so fast and easy. I have been walking around a lot with the conversion lens on, and when I see something that could use a wider angle of view, I just quickly screw the conversion lens off, take the shot while often keeping it on my hand, and screw it back on. Something that would be a hassle with an SLR.

Man I’ve been thinking about whether to get the x100V or a used x100F for months and can’t decide. I’ve got the X-T3 but it’s my old X-T10 the one that I pick everyday with a 27mm f2.8 I got second hand. I love how compact it is and is in my bag all the time but I’m so down to have a rangefinder. I read and watch reviews all the time and it seems like the new lens is a big improvement and of course the weather sealing. Are you going to get the x100V?

As always another great video. 👍Love seeing the streets of London through your lens. I recently got the Fujifilm x100f, my first digital camera, and wondered if you could give newbie photographers tips and advice on choosing which settings to use for different types of pics. I know it requires taking a lot of photos to get to know your camera and knowing which settings work the best but it would be interesting and helpful to see your process in how you select your settings. Looking forward to more street photography videos!

Hey Joe! Been spending some time re-watching your videos, most recently the Paris X1H vid. What would you say are your main cameras now? Still using the X100V/GH5/X1H? Also - I finally got the R6 last week and have yet to take it for a shoot. Aside from my laziness, do you have advice on feeling uninspired/desensitized to the city you live in? Like, I live in NYC and after 6 years, I have trouble finding motivation to take advantage of what I have around me. I would definitely feel inspired if I were able to travel and see new things but that's obviously not possible for the foreseeable future.
@joeallam4 жыл бұрын
Cheers! I'd say my main camera for filming is the Canon R5, and for photography it's the Fujifilm X-H1, with occasional X100F. As for motivation, I've struggled with that a lot lately and especially at home in the UK. The best way I've found inspiration is to see someone else's video/shots of your city purely to remind you what's out there. Even if they're just visiting the main landmarks, there can often be snippets of inspiration that remind you why people are drawn to the landmarks in the first place. In case you missed them before, here are my NYC vlog series' that may help inspire you to head out and shoot this week! 2018: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6ayiJ98r6yShNk and 2019: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGnKqGudoN2iq6s
