I could never eat a crawdad. I used to have one for a pet! I kept it in a little fishbowl till my mom made me put it back in the river. I had it for several months. I miss that guy.

Joe I don’t know about walking through that tall grass.. ticks galore here in Pa.
@jmar665 Жыл бұрын
I, unfortunately have lantern bugs this year. Lots and lots of lantern bugs.🤔I planted a garden and flowers and they are destroying everything. They are small now and it will be really bad once they mature. And they are here to stay until the first killing frost. All bugs are plentiful this summer in PA.
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
I only had one tick on me all year and that was early spring. Its just a tick, nothing to be worried about unless you get the bullseye bruising, then you need to go get checked out.
@JeepDogs Жыл бұрын
Hey Joe , I’ve noticed lots of dead evergreens in your videos the bore beetle must be very invasive. I was recently in Manitoba and I noticed the same destruction.

They are killing all the balsam trees. They seem to have slowed down a lot.

In AZ, once you mud bugs you own. if you get caught dumping them back you're subject to being fined. Invasive species. Thanks for the video.

Hi, Joe Love the videos been wondering my self how many traps are you allowed in Minnesota? I been wanting to do this being from the south I love Crawfish.
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
I do not think there is a limit on traps but you can only transport 25 pounds at a time unless you have a permit to catch and sell them.
@SnappySnapfire Жыл бұрын
@@JoeandZachSurvival This is amazing news Thank you so much. By chance when is the season? I have looked at the DNR site but it's kind of hard to find things on that site. You rock man thank you for your time
@davidnewby7146 Жыл бұрын
In Pennsylvania, the Rusties are invasive so you are required to kill all by regulation. In 7 years, I have only ever caught 1 native species crayfish.
@ryankullar97547 ай бұрын
Like the mudbuggin video but my question is what time of year do u start putting traps out? Also what do u look for 2 set the traps and what is the best bait u have used for them

Hello! Thanks for the video! I didn't understand what kind of lake it is, did you say lake Zachary? Unfortunately, I did not find such a thing. I also wanted to ask if you used different baits at once, a mix, for example, liver, garlic and fish?

Do the crayfish up here taste the same as in the southern US where they are regularly eaten?
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
Almost the same, they are a little different. The fat tends to be a little greenish vs the yellowish from down south. I have eaten many pounds of them from both Minnesota and from Louisiana. They are close.

Is it not legal in Minnesota to use those small crawfish for fishing?
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
It is legal but ONLY if you use them for bait in the same body of water you trapped them in. You can not bring them anywhere else to use them. They are invasive.
@MyAlaska12 Жыл бұрын
Could you go over the following? Is there a season when you can trap mudbugs? If not, why can't you catch them anytime that isn't winter? What is the size you keep? Can you keep any size?

@jamestoth1256 Жыл бұрын
Any other suggestions for bait?
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
beef, pork or chicken liver. canned cat food. beef spleen (beef melt). The best bait you can use is the stuff you throw away after cleaning your fish, the head and guts and skin etc but here in Minnesota you can only use that if you caught the fish in the same lake you are trapping the crayfish in.
@aaronjarvenpa1743 Жыл бұрын
What do you use for bait ?
@1mikegene6 ай бұрын
Where in Minnesota are you catching the crawfish?
@Plw-qg5pi Жыл бұрын
What do you bait with i have tried jest about everything
@JoeandZachSurvival Жыл бұрын
You can use canned cat food, beef, pork, deer or chicken livers. When you catch and clean a fish, keepall the stuff you would discard and use that for bait. I have used bread. You can use beef spleen, chicken. Almost anything will catch them IF they are there to catch.

They hide edges of rocks. You see them dart, backwards. that's a MN crayfish. Very small. No leeches on toes swimming since the 80's, another story! Ask the DNR why? Not a political statement. Brings me back to my boyhood.

Lots of big ones also. I have been trapping them here for almost 15 years.
