So then how do popstars who don't write ANYTHING themselves remember lyrics of their less popular non-single songs? Because they rehearse a setlist until they remember it. A superbowl quality peformer should be rehearsing enough that even the less common songs are hammered into their mind before they need to perform it. Wayne clearly doesn't so that at his regular shows so why would anyone trust him to prepare properly for the superbowl? People need to realize that music and performing is there job. There are two things that Wayne needs to accept to help him get over this. Firstly, he has a long way to go to recover his image/reputation as a performer. He spent a lot of years giving awful performances due to lack of professionalism, being strung out on drugs, lack of preparation, and being disgruntled with his deal/situation. The NFL aren't taking any risks with performers. Secondly, there are levels to this. It is very likely that Kendrick wasn't the first person asked to perform. They likely asked Taylor and Adele again. Bands like The Foo Fighters, Metallica, etc are still on deck. Even acts like Justin Beiber, Ed Sheeran, etc that have a ton of albums the last decade are above him. He should focus on staying relative active and be the first hip-hop act they approach.

Kendrick Lamar sees Wayne as his idol, he loves Wayne so much to a point where he made a mixtape back then of C3 beats and rapped his ass off. There's also a clip of Kendrick rapping over Wayne's songs every verse on the song word for word before begging Wayne not to quit music. At that time Wayne was planning to quit music completely, Kendrick was one of the people who went live, during a studio session just to pay homage to his GOAT while begging him not to quit music because he has so much to offer and there are people who look up to him for inspiration and many are in the industry because they grew up listening to Wayne's catalog. I believe Kendrick Lamar would've brought out Wayne if it wasn't for the things he's been saying, feeling entitled for no reason. It must've pained Kendrick to see Wayne do that.
