Based on the story Mel told Angie Martinez on her podcast, I think Mel has serious trauma from the time those men cornered her in the break room. She only told Angie that about that one situation where she feared for her life on a video set but I can only imagine about stories she’d never speak on where something probably did occur. So I can understand why she wouldn’t want to be on the video scene again. Hell and in her defense, casting her in a Gunna video would not be this huge honor or break in her career. Like tf. If anything she’d be hustling backwards by doing a video. Especially in a climate where people barely to watch videos! lol Now if they have some “elite” award ceremonies honoring the top video vixens then that’s different. This new generation kills me thinking that just because someone who’s newer and more current for the “moment” in the music industry is supposed to have every and anyone at their feet. Gunna has some catchy songs and is extremely popular but let’s hope he can sustain relevancy within the next 5-10yrs. Clearly Mel’s name is still ringing bells and it’s been well over 15yrs since she did videos so that alone speak volumes of her value. I just watched the video. While some say this was homage to video vixens I disagree. He used past video vixens in his video for the bachelor song which has nothing to do with video vixens. In addition, the video doesn't indicate this is a celebration of video vixens, none of them are named checked in the song, and their names didn't pop up as they appear in the video. None of them were spotlighted. Paying homage or tribute is so much more than this. A true homage would have all these things I just mentioned that wasn't in the video. Perhaps even more. She more than likely saw the treatment realized this wasn't what she considered to be a homage and she respectfully declined. There's no hypocrisy here.
