Y’all are saying you want fire music but keep forgetting that the money needed to really make that fire doesn’t exist. Purely from a business standpoint, the music isn’t making enough money to justify the costs of making fire. Y’all can complain about the quality of the music but the fact of the matter is there isn’t enough money coming in to justify spending what is needed to make fire. We’re all at fault for this to some degree or another. Do I want artists to make the best stuff they can make? Hell yes! Will they? Probably not because the ends don’t justify the means. If you don’t have the pockets of Joe Budden or the budgets of Drake, JayZ, and Eminem and all the other household names then you’re doing some mediocre shit most of the time because the money isn’t there to spend time locked away in a studio for weeks and weeks while you work on ideas uninterrupted. Granted that’s assuming we’re talking about actual artists and not 15 minute fame chasers and most of what’s out there now it’s just fame chasers who never wanted to be in music but are using it as a vehicle to do other stuff.

I think the part ish always seems to forget about the perception of drake is that he isn’t being himself behind closed doors and in public. Ish always seems to be in his corner to make it seem like Drake has just been this amazing guy helping everyone behind the scenes for no benefit to himself at all which probably isn’t the case at all. We quite literally don’t know who Drake REALLY is. Obv we as the public could never really know the truth behind him. But Joe hit the nail on the head when he said “he can’t be himself”. My theory is that drake has never put his real foot forward when working with people outside of his immediate camp and that’s what has rubbed artist the wrong way, so it’s not just that he’s corny it’s that he tries to make it seem like he’s not corny. Sometimes you have to own who you are to be accepted by people. In drakes case he probably just rubbed a lot of people in the industry the wrong way but they couldn’t do or say anything about it because he was a cash cow at the time

You could have a hit record with just the right producer and the right backing/money behind you, and how the label wanted to push you, and get you plenty of radio air time.
