After battling this for 30 minutes today trying to slip it over the new alternator, this is a great tip. Thanks.

Thanks Joe, just ordered these parts as I was getting squealing on cold winter startup. Like the voice over for sound quality and allows for corrections post installation. Plan to do this when the weather warms up as in February in Ontario Canada.

What a fabulous video Joe! This is a first class EASY TO FOLLOW clinic on serpentine belt, pulley and idler wheel maintenance … The very best I’ve seen. Thank You! I also have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3.6 Liter V6 Pentastar Engine like that of your wife. Two Questions: 1) where do you order Her Mopar Parts from? 2) Can I just order the bearing alone for the tensioner? I have 140k mi.

Thanks appreciate the compliment! I generally order parts from Amazon, RodkAuto and factorychryslerparts.com depending on what I need, parts availability and price. I don't believe the bearing is available separately... I vaguely remember it looking like it was permanently affixed to the pulley.

I just replaced the serpentine belt and idler on my wifes 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee today and used the exact same belt and idler that you used in your video. Pretty easy job. After I got everything back together and started the engine to make sure everything was running true, I saw a slight wisp of smoke and could smell rubber burning. It eventually stopped smelling. Did you notice this at first when you replaced yours? I double checked my work and found everything right. TIA.

Sorry I honestly don't recall. Vehicle has been running fine since I shot this video though so if you followed the same procedure and used the same parts you should be fine. Good luck!

So where do you find out how many pounds or torque to do the idler. And if you don't have a torque wrench, can any of the part places lend one out to you

Does the same part number works on a 2014 jeep grand cherokee limited?

DO you have to remove the oil cooler adapter housing to do this?

Nope, not at all.

I hope u answer... my ac pulley is not spinning.. should i change the pulleyy or the whole thing?
@JoesGarageProductionsLLC3 жыл бұрын
What I think you mean is the pulley itself is spinning but the AC compressor is not. If that's the case your air conditioning is probably turned off. It could also be off on low pressure if you have a refrigerant leak. You could also have a bad electromagnetic coil in the AC clutch

Isn't the Gates idler 'Made in China'? Maybe just the body of the idler is Chinese, and the bearing is NSK?
