Joe, thanks for posting this. I was with the 79th Trans Co. from Feb 69 to Jan 70. You guys were our sister company. I had a 2' x 3' Peace Collage (the collage was from Stars and Stripes pictures with a typed (from S & S articles) peace sign in the middle. I had it in my hooch for over 6 months when our 1st Sgt came through and told me to get rid of it now. I asked him if I could send it home and he said he wanted it out of the company area now. I took it over to the 540th and asked the guys to hide it until I could send it home. They ended up displaying it, our 1st shirt found out and went over and tore it up. I still have pics of the torn up collage.

Welcome Home brother Joe! Thank you so much for posting this memorable video!!! I saw some of my unit's ships on this vid. That's pretty rare and was really cool to see!!! I was with the 196th ASHC "Flipper"; Ch-47 A's and B's out of Ahn Son. I hope this doesn't give me any flashbacks. PEACE!

I was there 69 and 70 with the 41st Signal Btnn. We used to service the comm. eqpt on the top of the big hill, [ cant remember the name of it]. The drive up was fun in a 2 1/2 truck. Our motor pool was right on the beach.

My dad was in Qui Nhon, he doesn’t talk about Vietnam, (I believe he was there between 69-71) I believe he was helicopter recovery. I guess I’m trying to figure out his past. I know it still haunts him and I wouldn’t never use it against, I just want to be there if he needs it. Welcome home and thank you for your service.

I was with the 540th from Feb 70 to Aug 70. I tried to get into the recovery section so I could fly, but the waiting list was long, so I put in for a transfer to the 101st and went to a unit where I was on flight status.

@@applecapbob Some of the guys I hung around with, and am still in touch with most, are Nettles, Prather, Foster, Hannigan, Pitman. I tried for months to get into the recovery section so I could fly, but the waiting list was too long. I put in a 1049 to the 101st, moved up there at end of August 70 and got to crew a Huey for the rest of my tour. My friend Dennis Reese also put in a 1049, he went to the 498th Dustoff over at Lane field in August 70. He was KIA in October of that year.

Hi, thanks for sharing these images! Can I ask, at 5:07 with the frame of the 540th and 79th Trans Co. areas, up in the right hand corner, there is a row of 4 two storied white buildings, does anyone know if that was the Provincial Hospital?

Hi Dale-I got to the 540th in Feb 70. Reese and I talked each other into transferring to units where we could fly. He went to the 498th Dustoff and was KIA in Oct. 70. I transferred to the 101st and survived without a scratch. I was in the Repair Platoon in the 540th. Used to hang around with Rd Foster, Lyle Nettles and George Prather. Great hearing from you. Those are all my pics in the video.
