I know. I wish I could keep everyone of them that I have restored over the years. It would be quite a collection. Unfortunately I need to eat and pay my bills so this is what I do to earn some extra money. The end result is a combination of many of my skills. I worked as a jeweler and auto mechanic/engine builder. On this engine it took me one whole week to polish just the connecting rod. I should of just given it a tumble finish but I really went overboard on this one. Over 3 months of work but it did sell for over $4,000.00. A true labor of love. 😁

I just diiscovered these old engines less than a year ago. Ive never owned a hit and miss engine of any type, and I've never even seen one in person. I've only seen them in videos. But I'm still surprised that i never considered the cooling effect of air being sucked in through the open exhaust valve during every "miss" stroke. But it seems like there would have to be some fairly significant degree of cooling during the 8-10 free wheeling strokes in between every "hit", as the cylinder is repeatedly filled and emptied of ambient air each time. Of course the cooling effect would be dramatically reduced, or negated entirely in the case of a working engine with a significant load on it, because of the reduction or elimination of miss cycles.

In a direct sale I need to get $3800.00 plus the actual FedEx shipping charge. I can take PayPal but their fees would need to be covered. That’s usually around 3% if a credit card is used. Any questions I can be emailed at joekind@comcast.net
