As an Ohio State fan, I've always loved the way Utah plays and Kyle Wittingham. They're ALWAYS prepared to play. They always run the ball, play good defense, and are TOUGH in a conference that otherwise doesn't always have a lot of teams that are. He makes great adjustments and they're never going to quit, and it makes them a nightmare to deal with in the 4th quarter when the game is close, even without their starting QB. There are a lot of teams that wouldn't want to see Utah most years, in a 12 team playoff as their opponent so I totally agree.

Indeed!!! In 40 years of watching Michigan football I have never seen a team like this one. Every year, no matter how good they are, there's always a let down game, or two, where an inferior team keeps it close and there's a scare or they lose to one of those teams. Not this year. Frankly, the games have become boring because they pull all the starters in the third quarter and they run a slog offense just to run out the clock. If Steve Spurrier were the coach, they'd be putting up 70 plus every week.

Klatt didn't watch the FSU vs Duke game. Duke hadn't lost by more than one score in over a year and FSU blew the doors off them once the "bubble wrap" was taken off Travis in the run game. Duke did next to nothing on offense regardless of qb.

Facts, Duke had Leonard for 2.5 quarters and they scored 1 offensive touchdown. FSU turned the ball over on downs 2x and gave up a pick-6 in that same amount of time. Something needs to change in PSU. It’s hard to talk about a coaching change when Franklin virtually only loses about 2 games a year. But the lack of creativity on offense in big games continues to be a issue any time they play OSU or Michigan the past 3 years. 2-3 downs out of 4, every series they were running the same zone hand off to the left. We’ve heard about Drew Allar ALL year, and in the biggest game the coaching staff looked TERRIFIED to put the ball in his hands and let him throw with freedom in the offense. By the time the 4th Qtr came around and they needed him to throw, he looked frantic and was running from rushers before they got to him. There was more than enough opportunity for them to win the game. You don’t need Marvin Harrison Jr to score with the passing game. There’s 200+ universities that don’t have Marvin Harrison Jr.

As a PSU fan I'm accepting that James Franklin is content with being 11-2 and finishing 5th-10th every season. Watching that game ruined my appetite for football for the weekend. The offense was anemic, he refused to get his best players involved, all while having arguably the best defense in the country giving the offense a multitude of chances. Every season is the exact same result with him. Another thing; the lack of trust in Drew Allar was shocking. He played poorly, absolutely, but you're not moving the ball & Ohio showed multiple single safety & no safety looks in the 2nd half cause they didn't need to respect the deep ball. Just throw a go route, do *ANYTHING*! Sincerely, an infuriated PSU fan.

I think with PSU's receivers against OSU's DBs, throwing the ball deep is a bad idea. Statistically, your best best was to run the ball on OSU, who has been known to give up big yards on the ground. Your O-line lost the game. Ohio St was averaging less than 2 sacks a game against lesser teams, and Penn St allowed 4 sacks! No pass protection, no run blocking.

Im not a fan of either team, but I was expecting a lot more from the Penn state offense. Franklin played scared. Showing no trust. Gotta let the young man cook.

Penn State fan here. Joel, you're right on. I couldn't watch this game, because I knew what was coming and didn't want to get too mad. However, a comment in all of PSU articles I read this season said to keep calling plays until the other team can't stop. My take is, in spite of their rushing yards weren't great, they had kept the chains moving with their running game which they didn't keep on. They needed to keep hammering the ball, and they stopped that. The fact that Singleton went off on a 26 yard run, they should have kept going to what are they're strengths. As well as their tight-ends... The team (coaching staff) needs to elevate by coaching the team like teachers in a classroom. Elevate the players by making them successful.

DEFENSE always wins Championships 🏆. Last year, after the Michigan loss, Jim K. should have implemented this years defensive schemes. If Kyle M. figures out how to SLOW the game down in his mind, no one will beat this team. Another National Championship will come this way to THE. Opportunities are very fleeting....all the pieces must fit together.

I wish Michigan did run the score up in the Spartans as that is what Dantonio did to Michigan about 10 years ago. That said, when th State players started getting flagged for personal fouls and late hits, and in one instance a Spartan player was ejected, the right move was to obviously take out the starters. It is classic Spartan behavior to do this; and yet before the game they were complaining about player safety and saying the game shouldn't be played. The hypocrisy is so blatant, you just can't make this stuff up.
@calvinhobbes6118 Жыл бұрын
DAntonio is gone but his hateful and his players thuggish behaviors still lingers. It didnt help that Mel Tucker was just as bad and hateful, at least DAntonio's players never assaulted Michigan players, just co-eds.

True, if all Ohio has to rely on is Honda McCord passing to Maserati Marv then they’re done. Ohios inability to create any run game is going to hurt them when Michigan is able to go on long methodical drives. Ohios defense will crumble by the 4th quarter just like the past 2 seasons.

The game is dying and people have to call it out and talk about it. The ad breaks are too intrusive and make this running-clock version of college football unwatchable. We need to go back to the clock stopping on first downs and just not bloat the broadcast with 2 extra hours of ads. It was barely a watchable product before and now shortening it by giving us less football and keeping the ads the same has ruined college football entirely for me. Please advocate for the fans and the game Joel and talk about this.
USC isn’t going to like playing in the Big Ten, unless major changes are made.
