I like how everyone you bring on and that you show Babymetal to all says "It's like from another world!"

I'm spellbound watching this performance. Akatsuki was actually voted as the most popular BABYMETAL song at LouderSound a couple of weeks ago.

Nice reaction from Dizzy. This concert was one of their best performances for a while. And then Su somehow just got better at what she does. Her solo from Legend S No Rain No Rainbow is amazing. Then Moa got better Legend M Moabanger. Then came the 10 years of Babymetal at the Budokan. Their return to the place this video is from. And together they crushed 10 shows there at the start of covid. Fans were amazing and thrilled by those shows. Worried that Babymetal may be done after covid. Babymetal came back even stronger than before Their new songs are a showcase of what a great singer Su is. Almost to say you want it, you got it. Babymetal appears on First Take. They do a piano rendition of Monochrome. And now we're all Emotionally Damaged. They are from out of this world.

Slash was asked if he knew of Babymetal.... He did and went on to say he would love to do a show with them .. 2 years later GNR was on tour in Japan and Babymetal opened those shows and then a gig with Metallica..
@Marty-Metal Жыл бұрын
excellent content Joel-Metal, this performance was a whole 3 years before BABYMETAL opened for GnR in 2017, several shows all around Japan, apparently, Slash is a big fan of them and has worn their t-shirts. back then they used to open with BABYMETAL Death, a fast and furious song that is way heavier than anything GnR plays.

Dizzy got that point: "It's from another world". Don't be fooled - Babymetal is neither Metal nor Rock - other than some musical flavor. The whole professional approach - composition, performance, staging, theatrics, production, logistics - the emphasis on creating an immersive experience for live audiences - is much closer to musical or even opera.
@SuddenReal Жыл бұрын
That's like saying Rammstein isn't metal because they approach things exactly the same way. If one member of Rammstein stands in the wrong spot during a live show, they get a flamethrower to the face. Metal is all about the experience. I saw Iron Maiden with a plane on stage, Sabatton with a tank, AC/DC has had cannons on stage since like forever. Even when Within Temptation was just starting out, they had cheap blow-up trees on stage. Because if there's one genre that pushes the limits of presentation, it's metal. That's why the phrase is "metal as fuck".
@ottoweh Жыл бұрын
@@SuddenReal - I should have avoided that phrase, Dizzy's words just lent themselves ;) Huge stage design was not the actual point I was trying to make, that's just part of it. With all those you named, the centerpiece is still people presenting their own musical creativity. Have you ever read the song credits on a Babymetal album? Ever seen those people on a stage? Where is the band positioned relative to center stage? More like Musical or Opera, right? Those on center stage - how much time do you think they spend on training their choreography relative to rehearsing and recording in studio? Don't tell me, you can't see a difference! It's much more of a collective division-of-labor-like approach.
@SuddenReal Жыл бұрын
@@ottoweh Just like Rammstein. Again, one misstep and it's a flamethrower to the face. They need to know their "choreography" very well. Also, how do you rate bands who have a duo who writes everything? Bands like Nightwish? Their albums are written by the singer and bassist, the rest of the band just play what they tell them to.

Dizzy before video - we're happy to give opening acts an opportunity, but we don't really care enough to listen. We barely care enough to show up to the venue on time Dizzy after video - do they need another keyboardist?

A polite response here but I think Rondo of Nightmare may have been a better choice. HeadBangeeerrr!! Syncopation, Distortion, & Death most definitely as well. If anything older I could recommend it's Su-Metal Duet with Rob Halford, which was pure metal gold!! Also nothing against using older videos for reactions. However, given how superior Babymetal is now. It seems the focus should be more on their latest efforts. There is a big difference here with this performance from where Su-Metal is now. :)

To American ears, it sounds more like AK-at-ski. The u is barely pronounced and the emphasis is on the first syllable (always in Japanese names). From a lifelong anime fan.

I think it's a mistake to classify them only as a band. For me they are a spectacle, like Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair or Tommy, or even Alice Cooper, Rammstein...

Hmmm. Polite and respectful response. I think maybe Headbanger LIVE would have been more up his alley.
@randomman4938 Жыл бұрын
It was a polite answer for sure. It seems that Dizzy isn't a fan of faster thrash metal. Which is certainly his right to like whatever he wants. So I'd rather a person respond like he did, versus faking it, and replaying " omg, best thing ever!" when its obvious they weren't in to it.
@rah2287 Жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly.
@ricardo__jr Жыл бұрын
I think maybe it would be better to show him a more recent show. The old performances are excellent, but they are no longer Babymetal, now they are adult women, even the posture on stage has changed, the voices are more powerful, anyway, that's what they will show from now on. In my opinion, they should leave aside the more childish songs from the beginning of their career and start a new phase.
