Good reaction. Rocko has good taste. Or at least - he seem to have the same taste as me :) Sekima II, thrilling. They are very good. But it is hard to find the best tracks and some of them are audio only.

LIVING CHAIR! Those guys are living icons! They rock super hard and look the part. I wish I could look as cool as any of them.

roland... -- = Ningen Isu = LIVING CHAIR! The translation is right, but not self-explaining. What is meant is "the ugly cabinetmaker who lived in a chair to be close to another man's rich wife whom he adored, so that he secretly could feel her body and warmth".

Ningen Isu - HUMAN CHAIR
@passio-735
@passio-735 7 ай бұрын
@@bernardoesperanto3194 The band's name derives from a story by Edogawa Ranpo, the english title is "The Human Chair". Although there are a few more nuances in the title [ningen can be used for a 'humanising' (personification) effect for example which would give the main authority to the chair, not the man hidden inside] I think 'living' is a very limiting translation here [and of course not verbatim]. The story is about an author who occasionally receives manuscripts from aspiring authors. One of the manuscripts entails the story of a chair maker. In the story the chair maker does not live inside a chair to be near to another man's wife. He 'moves' into an armchair he created for a hotel lobby because he finds himself unable to part with what he considers to be his masterpiece. Being ugly and shunned by society he notices that inside the chair he starts to feel close to other people in a way he hadn't before - in a way he had to 'die' and bury himself inside his chair/in his work [!] to become a part of humanity. But this is all just an unexpectant side-effect from his original plan which was to take advantage of his perfect hiding place by robbing the hotel guests at night. When the hotel is sold and redecorated after a few months, the armchair moves into the house of the wife you mentioned and the chair maker claims that over time [living unnoticed underneath her] he has fallen in love with her. While reading, the author becomes aware that she is that woman. However, a second letter reveals, that the story is in fact only a story and that its author's intention was to merely amuse the famous author and test his own penmensship. To name only the episode of the rich woman and to ascribe the reason behind moving into the chair to being near her out of a personal obsession, is not quite correct and would do the story a huge dishonour in my opinion because it's so rich and ambivalent in its motives [if you _do_ want to break it down to one overarching reason, I would say it is was a desire to be in the society of [rich/socially accepted] people; to feel part of something he could only imagine through the 'life' of his chairs (which, due to his mastery, where all commissioned by rich people). It's not as superficial as that, though....I think in its heart the story is about feeling accepted and valued, and the obsessions and criminal instinct that can be born inside the heart of a person that feels shut out. And it is certainly about the living soul of the artist that travels with the art into other people's houses and places. When an author writes, a painter paints, a musician plays/composes and so on. they always part with something of themselves and that something, being given away, starts a life of its own. And what happens to the artist when he has given himself away completely? Does he turn into his art? - this is certainly true to some degree, just imagine what happens when you look at a painting or listen to a song by someone long gone. The ending of course reveals another, even deeper meaning - although it might not seem so - namely that all art is fun. We create, not to dwell in the darkness but to step out of it. If there was no enjoyment in what an artist does they would hardly do it and even the thousands of artists, who tell you that they *have to* create and that it's not a fun business - the starving artist etc - they merely describe the circumstances they life in, not the actually process of creation]. And I think that's why the band decided to name themselves after this particular short story - it's metaphorically rich, engaged with social and private issues, multifaceted, obscurely funny and undeniably creepy.

@@passio-735 -- Thank you for your detailed explanation. I'm aware that I (over?)-simplified the complex story with its many layers. For more information see the article "The Human Chair" in the English Wikipedia.

@@bernardoesperanto3194 That's ok. I just wanted to name the source and saw your comment as an opportunity to conjure my memory of the story and put my thoughts about it to words. But I would really recommend reading the story instead of consulting wikipedia ^^ It's very short and it's much more fun and interesting to engage with an original text :D [or a translation of course, there are a few of this one in particular because it's pretty famous]
